Regehr to retire

My favorite Regehr moment as a King was when he stepped up to fight Brent Burns at the end of, I think it was game 6, against the Sharks last year. Sharks were on the verge of collapse after going up 3-0 in the series. Burns started some **** with Gaborik as a desperate, last ditch effort to rally his team before going into Game 7. Regehr stepped in and took care of business and sent a final message to the Sharks that the Kings were taking the series.

He was a mean piece of business and will be missed on the Kings blue line. Glad he got to hoist the cup before he retired.

Congrats. He will be missed.

Burns just has to get one quick cheap shot in on Gaborik.

I was a bit shocked with the news, thought he was kicking ass this season, but I respect his decision. Great that he got the Cup.

From a team perspective, this is great news for both the team and Sekera.

One of the UFA guys I was hoping would come back next season. His presence will surely be missed.

Hope McNabb learned a lot by being around him and picks up on some of Robyn's on ice habits.

Yeah we don't save any cap space by him retiring. We still need his presence and it may cost even more to replace him until McNabb can prove he can do it.

I don't blame Reggie at all, he's had a kajillion medium injuries to come back from the last couple of years.

I think he could have easily earned couple million $ more. Look what Scuderi got from Pens at 35 years of age.

This is a really underrated point about the guy. How much of a ****ing boss are you when you're sitting there going "I could mail it in for a few more years and earn several MILLION more dollars, but nah, I'm good."

Respekt.

Kinda weird that they decided to use a gif of him hitting someone in the back with all the available material out there.

I read an interview with him last summer that led me to believe that he was going to retire after this season. He has that company (with his business partner) that serves oil companies out in the oil fields outside of Calgary. Robyn has work to do after retirement and will have more time to spend with his family, so I can understand why he is at peace with this decision.

Working in the oil industry myself, I'm willing to bet he makes more in the long run out here than playing a couple of more seasons in the NHL.
