ReDrafting the 2014 Top 4 - since they are all in the Finals...

Don't really see a case for Bennett over Ekblad at all. Unless you're willing to ignore the first 8 seasons after they were drafted, when Bennett cracked 30 points once.

Edit: sorry, misread the "rank" as "draft." Then yeah, Drai, Rein, Bennett, Ekblad is probably the right order. Not in a redraft though. I'm not toiling through 8 years of Bennett not really being a capable top 6er just so I can see him break out at age 27.
Calgary misused him? Winger in the bottom 6 there?
2nd line center since day 1 in FL, then he “broke out”.

Are people forgetting Pastrnak is in this draft class ? He had over 100 points on a terrible Bruins team and 2nd most points in the draft class by a big margin.
Draisaitl
Pastrnak
Point
Nylander

Toews over Pasta? Jesus Christ!

For me even Pasta >> Point.
Toews was an insane two way forward in his prime who won multiple cups, has a Smythe and a Selkie (and was Selkie quality for years) and who should arguably have another Smythe. Pasta is easily the better offensive player but right now Toews has the better career and is better of an all round player.

Draisatl is a similar player as Pasta but he has more hardware and much better playoff stats and success.

EDIT: NVM didn't realize we were talking about Devon, I might be slightly stupid.

Yeah Pasta is way better than D Toews

The OP asked people to rank the top 4 draft picks of the 2014 draft class, not pick the best players from the 2014 draft class.

Can't have this thread without this pic

Drai
Reinhart
Bennett
Ekblad

If looking at everyone in the draft:
Drai
Pasta
Shesterkin
Nylander
Point
Reinhart
Toews
Larkin
Bennett
Ekblad
Putting Bennett near the bottom of that list when he’s leading the playoff in goals scored is wild.

Part of that is Calgary's inexplicable decision to never really give Bennett a long run in the top six, constantly being delegated to a third line checking role.

I think the player you see in Florida is the one you would have seen much sooner in Calgary if that organization wasn't dumb.
