The top 10 of the 2021 draft (outside of Boucher, lol) Is filthy. That was super deep draft.

I'd take Edvinsson over Johnston, but what makes that discussion kinda interesting is that Dallas reportedly had Edvinsson #1 on their draft board.

This draft possibly would of looked a lot different if it wasn’t for covid
I think its still a draft where some late bloomers are going to come out of "nowhere" and be real players, mostly because they wouldn't have been later picks if they played that season. I bet a few teams have guys trending that way.
Idk, I think both Hughes and Edvinsson look a bit more 'special' when I watch them, but Johnston definitely is in my top 3.
I think that's a really easy top 3 right now, and should be everyones

Yep, talked about on the wings broadcast. Jim Nill told the wings tv crew they had him number 1. I remember being excited when I heard that because of how well Dallas drafts, and that Edvinsson was ranked top 3 on Bobs list. Seemed like a "steal" at 6, starting to trend that way now

Is that the Traverse City Tourney broadcast, or did Nill actually say that in an interview?

Asking mainly because I only knew of the broadcast crew mentioning it during the tourney, but didn't know of any other time it was mentioned.

What's the case for Luke Hughes to be given #1 in a redraft? He had a big year last year with 70% offensive zone starts and feasting on the PP. ES he put up 22 points in 82 games, 60% offensive zone start, and a -25. Owen Power puts up 26 ES points in 76 games, 53% o-zone start, and a +8.

This year, Hughes has 15 ES points in 46 games, 55% o-zone starts at ES whereas Power (who is having a "down" year) has 27 ES points in 53 games with 51% o-zone start at ES. Hughes to me benefited last year from a top end PP in the league, but doesn't defend well and at ES is quite average. Power has never played on PP1, but assuming he did, we would likely see his overall stats go up quite heavily. He had 160 minutes less PP time compared to Hughes last year.

I dont consider Power #1 in a redraft, but if I dont consider him that, I dont understand how Hughes would be there.

My Rankings after looking into it:
1) Wyatt Johnston

2) Simon Edvinsson

3) Owen Power
4) Matty Beniers
5) Luke Hughes

6) Mason Mctavish
7) Dylan Guenther
8) William Eklund

Luke Hughes who "doesn't defend well" gives up just 1.63 goals/60 minutes 5v5 (power is at about 3)

Top 5 should be

1. W.Johnson

These three are very tight.

Edvinsson
Guenther
Hughes

Followed by Kent Johnson.

Guenther is being slept on, just like how he fell to the bottom of the top tier of 9 on draft day.

Guenther is 75% o-zone start. That's crazy deployment. No wonder he is 37 points in 41 games. That's top 15 in the NHL.

This draft is so good and there are many players we could argue at 1 but with the way GMs draft and what they value, there's no way it isn't Edvinsson at 1 imo.
