Redblacks 2025 thread

What poor play selection on 2nd and long.... throw a short go nowhere pass with a whole
team to beat.

Right now, our defence sucks. Hopefully they can address this. Open field tackling is very poor.

Well this has got interesting. A touchdown and we could win this. One thing we have to be happy about is our receiving core (and Dru). They are catching everything near them.

Joke of an O line
They can't create holes for the RB and can't handle the blitz. Brown is not fast enough and doesn't get rid of the ball when pressured.

I also hated every play after he got sacked it was always a short throw even on 3rd down with the game on the line when it made no sense.

The D can't cover the run or the pass even though they recovered 2 fumbles and an interception they looked awful giving up huge gains.

Obviously our defense looked really poor, a combination of a lack of pass rush and a new, inexperienced secondary. Give the opposition credit, though - Saskatchewan is the early favourite to win the West, and last night they showed why. If Trevor Harris can stay healthy I think they run away with the West title.

Here's one positive to take away from last night - Dru Brown. Dude went 34 for 41 with over 400 yards passing. You get that kind of QB play every week and you're going to win your fair share of games. Redblacks have clearly found their guy - now to start putting a team together around him....

New season, same crappy team.

Same crappy tackling, crappy O line (I feel bad for Brown and Stanback), crappy defence and crappy play calling.

What's worse however is the indiscipline of this team - it seems like every (stupid) penalty they take negates a big play, extends an opposing team drive or leads directly to a score. That's on the coaching staff - which unfortunately, is crappy as well ...

Shilt
Why the hell is Matt Shiltz starting ahead of Dustin Crum.

This game will be over before halftime
Shiltz is a quarterback - not an awesome one, but a serviceable one. Dustin Crum is a great runner, but has never yet shown the ability to read a defence and make the throws he needs to make. I'm not saying that Shiltz is a world beater, and in fact we probably lose no matter which one of them plays, but Shiltz at least gives us the chance to win. Everyone has the book on Crum now - spy him with a fast linebacker and make him stay in the pocket and be a QB, because he stinks at that...

Not much hope for this game when the Mtl D penetrates the backfield so easily. They have to fix the lack of blocking something is terribly wrong!

I've never seen a quarterback have such a consistent problem throwing the ball over the heads/arms of opposing linemen. Would be a different game otherwise. Hope Dru is back soon.
