No reason to be positive. This is one of the worst 5 teams in hockey. If they have a brain in the front office which they clearly don't, they will sell off Girardi, Callahan, Boyle and Brassard for whatever they can get.

Trying to weigh the differences between the status quo and this yrs inevitable slide. What is better 1) take the dive and get a low, low pick or 2) barely make the POs with an exit in the 1st round.
Give me the low pick

The 3 players who we need to build around is Mcd kreider and zucc. Stepan is probably apart of that group although he hasnt played well consistently. I like callahan and girardi but if they havent played well and if they ask for a ton of money we should try and get back something for them at the deadline. I dont think hank is done but its obvious his confiddence has been shaken like we have never seen before. Even before tortorella he was a great goalie but now he looks like a bad backup out there

If you're gonna follow a crappy team, it's nice to know that it's located in NY, and not Colombus or Buffalo.

Yep. Callahan and Girardi could both bring back what Pomiville did. A first, second and good prospect who is close to NHL ready.

OP, so you're reason to be positive is you feel that everyone on the team will start playing better. Thats not really a reason for anyone to be positive because it is extremely unlikely.

My reason to be positive is we are in the weakest division in the league. And if we can sneak into the playoffs anything can happen.

I'm staying positive because I think this team has some very valuable pieces moving forward in McDonagh, Stepan, Kreider, Miller, McIlrath, Zuccarello, Hank, and hopefully a top-5 draft pick headed into the draft. Nash is extremely valuable is he starts to play better, too.

I'm watching the Bruins vs Sabres right now and it's sad how much harder the Sabres try than the Rangers do. I can see us dropping to last in the conf if we keep up our lame play.

First overall pick? :D

Uh, no, we are not as bad as Buffalo. That team scores 1.7 GPG.

It's 2014, we're over .500 and have half the season to go. Staal is back and Cally should be soon. Hank is starting to look more like his old self. Time to take it to the next level!

LGR!

I'll never top rooting but is there a realistic chance of this team making the playoffs and going far? Its usually the same **** every year

Surprised to see Stepan not on these lists. I know he's having a down year, but he's going to rebound. If anything, he would make a great 2nd line center for us depending on if we can acquire or develop a true first liner.

I feel the same way. If the Rangers can put together a little run they should make the playoffs and I like my chances with Henrik if he is playing up to form.

Spot on.

I'm starting to warm up to AV; I have to give him credit for making the most of his assets. I'm wary of, more than anything, any further roster moves. In other words: I hope management isn't experiencing premature optimism, excessive pessimism, or desperation. Mistakes happen when you don't leave emotion at the door. All in all, though, some positive signs have begun to emerge.
