I expect Hank to pick it up soon.

I can't imagine our defense (minus McD) to continue to play so terribly.

Ryan McDonagh and Mats Zuccarello are awesome.

Even if we fail, we have an opportunity to grab a very talented player with what could be a pick in the 6-10 range. Also, we may be able to grab moarz picks if Sather (so yeah, I don't really know about that one) decides to trade Girardi and Callahan at the deadline.

Rick Nash at some point has to show up. Right? RIGHT??!!

Flame away.

I love the fact that I am not alone on here in some optimistic spurs. It must be since none of us are from the greater NY area :) (Disclaimer, I do love NYC)

And I completely agree with you. I am very very happy to see McD become the player I hoped he would become under a new coach and with some seasoning.
As for Zucc I am one of his biggest fanboys, so not even gonna say anything there.

I do believe our slumping players will turn it around. We are two months into a season with new coach who has yet to bring in any players of his own. I am frustrated by many of his choices (breaking up good lines, PP lines, misuse of MDZ, overusage of certain players) but I really do believe he is a coach that may take this team in a positive direction.

Yep. Which also means we'll draft a defensive defenseman.

1.) We are one year closer to Sather's inevitable retirement.

2.) The Olympics will provide us with some exciting and meaningful hockey for a change.

3.) Christmas wishes might come true.

4.) The trade deadline should provide a few hearty laughs.

5.) Three of our 4 biggest rivals are miserable as well.

6.) McDonagh is awesome.

There will be trades. I wanna stay positive and say we'll turn it around but at best we'll finish with a first round exit and I'm not ok with that. I rather us miss the playoffs and get a higher draft pick, we need help but that won't happen this year that needs to be done through the draft and trades

When AV understands that playing Richards Nash Stepan the majority of every single powerplay we have, when Brassard Kreider and Zucc are the ones that are actually producing on the powerplay, I will become more optimistic.

I hate being negative, but the tipping point for me was the devils game: It became clear that we are no longer trending up and that whatever success sather has had, it's over.

I would love to be wrong about that. We shall see.

Positives?

-Looks like Kreider is a real player and may actually continue to get better which could lead to him being a great player in the near future and possilbly even a bone fide star.

I'm sure there is more but.....

Bridges? :sarcasm: lol

Good burgers?

Merchandising! Merchandising!

It's okay if you're being negative. When I was creating the thread, my eye-lid fluttered and I had a strange headache ;).

Damn solid list.

Can't wait for Olympic hockey.

Reasons to stay...

I have nowhere else to go.

Theyve had me for decades. Stopped going to the games, haven't seen the new Garden since the first of the renovations and refuse to put a dollar into this mess, but I'll never stop watching.

Theres constantly new content and a ray of hope in sports.

I think this thread is ridiculous that this stinky team can turn it all around after the Olympics, but one day Sather is going to step down. One day Dolan is going to sell the team. Ill still be watching.

Yep, pretty much the same for me too.

I can't imagine what my level of interest would be w/o Henrik.

If you want to be really optimistic...
Hockey is THE sport where a mediocre looking looking team can sneak in and get on a run with a hot goalie.
We have the goalie and I have to believe better days are ahead for him, so who knows.....

Kreider and McD. Also Zuccarello to an extent.

Other positives for this season? Nope. I have none. This team will miss the playoffs and have a run of the mill draft, re-shuffle some of the roster and "anything can happen" next season. Or they improve, make the playoffs and win a round, MAYBE 2 before getting knocked out. Re-shuffle roster. Repeat.

This team will not win the cup. This GM will not trade for the future. They will not draft top 5. There is nothing to look forward to. The new 3rd and 4th line mercenaries we see next season will not have any chemistry and will suck. Same old. Same old.

Future?

One day Sather will be gone. One day Dolan will be gone. We might start to see a competitive team once the former is gone. I don't hate Dolan (maybe I would if I was a Knicks fan). The problem is he hasn't fired Sather.

Dolan's only problem is that he cares about money. Dolan does not realize that this won't EVER be an issue owning an O6 franchise in NYC...

What Dolan needs is a "torts" of a GM... That is, the GM makes Dolan get's his hands off everything except for the pocketbook, and let's the GM run the team. There also should be a "president of operations" that oversees the GM. Puts a buffer between Dolan (who doesn't care) and the GM (who should care and be held accountable)

On the other hand, as long as the Rangers make money, Dolan is a happy boy. We get a GM that can put together a solid roster = $$$/Competent team

It's the worst division in hockey this year and I don't have faith in the Devils, the Canes, the Islanders or the Flyers getting much better anytime soon.

McDonagh's emergence is the biggest story of the recent Rangers - he's the kind of star 1D a contender needs.

Lots of guys are playing worse than they actually are, even if they've been overrated for years.

Corollary to that, we have the assets to be really interesting around the trade deadline if things don't shape up. The Rangers traditionally love making "the big move" - this time, I hope it's for a young forward with the potential to bring us more as "the guy" than Nash or Gaborik did. Whether that's someone already in the league, a draft-day tradeup, whatever.
