Realignment is HERE (BOG APPROVED, Post #87)

You have a team that is second to last in the league right now and one point out of dead last in the NHL as a 'lock' for the playoffs every year moving forward?

I live down here in DC. The Craps are having a fluke year. I was at the Boston game down here, because my GF is OBSESSED in an unhealthy way with her B's, believe me when I tell you the Craps next year will be very very solid. I am just saying its going to take an overhaul with mgmt. for our Isles to make the playoffs.

Rag$-spend money want to win
Pens-Young and Great!
Philly-see Rangers
NJD-solid organization
Craps-see Rangers and Philly

As you can see above three team locks and two team fighting for Wilcard... Don't see the Isles fitting in. Just my opinion!

I don't really have an opinion yet, but if all of those five teams are ahead of the Isles, also in the current format they wouldn't have a chance to get into the playoffs. So honestly, I don't see the big deal in this regard. As I'm from Europe I haven't followed the NHL as long as most others here, but as far as I know under the old system it was very rare (did it happen at all?) that all five teams of a division made it into the playoffs. At some point you have to be better than other teams, it's the prerequisite for making the playoffs.

when you look at the map this is a fail. Detroit should just stay in the west. How is their travel any worse than Nashville?

I dont agree with you, it's the opposite. If you look at the map, this is what makes the most sense. Everyone plays in the same time zone (with the only exception of a few teams in the Pacific division I believe). Detroit is not too far away from most teams in their division and teams like Nashville having to travel all the way up to Detroit ou Columbus as it currently is makes a lot less sense.

I like this realignment

I would just like to point out that a lot of people were concerned about how realignment would make it more difficult for us to make the playoffs. I would just like to point out that we would be sitting in 2nd place in our new division right now with only the Penguins ahead of us :yo:

Who could have predicted this team turning the corner? With the current play of the team right now, Strome+Nelson, maybe Tavares playing like himself, next season is going to be exciting.

To be fair, its only a half season.

This little run is great, but Im still hard-pressed to think they'd keep it up over a full 82 game season.
