Following a lightbulb moment that was sparked by this post from @NickH8 :

I don't like FC because they have their rankings and their rankings only. Kind of sucks to do mocks with Calum Ritchie constantly going 8th like we're still in October.

Someone needs to make a site where you can upload rankings to draft based on.

I present to you... Realgud's Realgud draft simulator: Realgud draft simulator

The original idea was to just be able to put your own list of players, which quickly evolved into me generating my own consolidated list that is McKenzie's latest top 96 + NHL's central scouting rankings for the rest of the list The list of players is editable before you start the draft so you can edit it and if you do edit it, and maybe you think you have a good version of what you think is a consensus list, please don't be afraid to share it here. I think @Henkka used to make his own consolidated list, if I remember correctly. If you still do, it might be of great use here.

Also please tell me if you find duplicated players. Some names have small differences and as a result the generation wasn't perfect and I had to clean it up a bit.

There is an algorithm in place for the "reach" picks and everything, and I tried to make it as realistic as possible but I can always tweak it if we don't find it satisfactory.

I will also update the draft rankings when McKenzie has a new list, and if central scouting update their rankings too. Also, I will update and add the picks for every team after the lottery is done.

This is nothing too fancy as I made this yesterday and updated it today after private messaging NickH8 for his approval (so 2 days in total) but I think it works very well and I'm happy with it.

By the way, I have improved the copy and paste. Didn't realize all the names ended up squished up like that. Should be better now.

Ideally, don't copy the "My picks" part. I'll probably add a button to copy the picks directly if I can.

I was trying to keep it simple but this is a really good idea for making the randomization more realistic. The issue is that it would only work with the lists we have here on this forum but wouldn't do anything with McKenzie's list as he doesn't put players into tiers.

At least for now if it goes for a "almost BPA" pick, it goes 1 to 5 picks lower which is kinda in a "tier". A "reach" is up to 30 spots down.

I'll see what I can do.

But it's McKenzie's latest top 96 (january) and the rest is filled with central scouting. The way I filled the rest is like this: I took all 4 individual rankings from central scouting (NA skater, EU skaters, NA goalies, EU goalies), put them together, removed all the 96 players from McKenzie's list, reordered them, and then used it to fill the back of the main list with a EU skater every 3rd pick, NA goalie every 15th pick and EU goalie every 25th pick, and obviously NA skaters for everything in between. This is also tweakable if this is not satisfactory and you want me to try a different method.

I'll re-do the default list when the last rankings come out, and adjust every pick for every team when the lottery is done.

I've been too busy at work to be on here but yeah, I've been playing with it and it's great. Definitely something to build on. Would be nice to not just have the one default rankings but a list of rankings to choose from. Henkka does the consolidated rankings so his would be great for this.

Yep, exactly. That's the goal. Anyone can give me lists and I can make a selector for it.

I'm keeping those in a notepad for the next generation so I don't make the same mistakes. McKenzie has it as MacKinnon, and central scouting has it as Mackinnon (lower case k). But why.
