It's also a change from the novel, which drip fed that backstory throughout the main story. I'm kind of glad that they didn't do that, since I don't think that it was executed well in Season 2. I didn't like how the flashback was executed here, either, but at least it's over.Episode 4 is pretty much a flashback, which is a narrative change from the first two seasons where the parceled them out.
I just binged the Righteous Gemstones and they do a pure flashback episode once a season, which fills in the gaps. It's also a change from the novel, which drip fed that backstory throughout the main story. In the book, Duffy gets along better with her teammates and Reacher and their hook up is more natural. For the show, they gave her an attitude, made her seem harder to work with and made her relationship with Reacher more awkward.Have not read the books. So can’t compare the 2. Not sure what to make of the relationship between Reacher and Duffy. Seems forced on the tv show. But not sure how it was portrayed in the book.
ROP doesn’t have a lead strong as Ritchson which is the series biggest asset.Even with how disappointing Season 2 was, more people returned for Season 3 than returned for Season 2 of The Rings of Power. This is also a franchise that most people didn't know or care about until 3 years ago versus a franchise that everyone knows and loves.![]()

I just finished it and didn't care for it, either. It reminded me too much of S2, with Reacher being around his "team" the whole time, and just about none of it was from the book. The show writers just made up a bunch of stuff to fill an episode, and it wasn't good. One egregious bit was Reacher being allowed into a high level ATF meeting, in full view of the hard-nosed director the entire time, and not being asked who he was and why he was in the room until after the meeting was over. Things like that really hurt the believability.Complete filler episode
