What a beauty. He's been playing his keep and finally getting rewarded for his efforts.
And this kid is a stud in the making. He’s going to be a household name if not as early as next season. With a little bit of a mean streak, he’s going to be a beast out there. Absolute nightmare to be matched up against.People are still sleeping on him.
My biggest concern for Edvinsson was whether or not he would ever be able to build a toolbox for all the tools he has. It looks like he has been able to address pretty much all the concerns about him pre-draft: panicking under pressure, bonehead mistakes, and lack of puck poise. He's become a lot more patient and better at reading the flow of play on both sides of the ice.
Well, we can’t call Yzerman a liar on this one. That’s for sure. He's gonna become a problem around the league pretty soon. Once ranked 3rd on Bob's final 2021 list because of his raw potential, his "over-ripening" this season has his stepping right in as Detroit's 2nd best D-man, handily. He has been the Wings' most steady D a number of nights already in his ~10 games up recently
Offensive confidence is growing and growing. He could stand to gain a bit more strength and balance when he gets physical, but holy moly he is one confident, mean SOB. Kind of a unicorn player in his own way, much like Seider is in his way
This is poetry. Great writeup on Ed and on point.Well, we can’t call Yzerman a liar on this one. That’s for sure.
They have said from Day One last year, that when Simon is finally in Detroit, it will be to play the role they seen him playing when they drafted him. Until then, he’ll keep playing Top minutes in GR, instead of bottom pairing, or role player minutes in Detroit. As all of Canada seen last night, looks like he’s hit that point.
Very rarely do we see a prospect come up and step right into the Top 4, in a “Pair Carrying” role, but he’s done just that. He looked a whole lot like Hedman last night. Smoother though.
He’s gonna make his share of the mistakes, all kids make. So people shouldn’t get too crazy yet, but sky really is the limit. It’s fair to say after these dozen or so games, he looks much better than some other high profile young dmen, who’ve been playing in the league all season. If that was Yzerman’s goal? He looks to have reached it.
Every game he does more and more, and as his confidence grows, and the game slows down for him at this level, the results will just continue to pile up. Sure does look like they’re gonna have a second, very special young dman.
Good times ahead for that D-Core, and they got more coming. Pretty safe to say, his days in GR are finally over too. They may send him back during their playoffs, if the Wings are done, but usually once you’ve earned your spot in the NHL like this, the manager will leave that up to the player.
Ryker Evans, Simon Nemec?Well, we can’t call Yzerman a liar on this one. That’s for sure.

Agreed, need that kind of presence when defending playoff leads out of your best D. He will be such a calming asset when that time comes. It's amazing how he doesn't panic, while Petry, a very seasoned veteran is a deer in headlights.
He said it’s rare, not impossible.Ryker Evans, Simon Nemec?
I just mentioned Nemec and Evans off the top of my head. You can add the Hughes brothers along with Faber and others. It's not that rare.He said it’s rare, not impossible.

Petry's decision-making has really taken a dip with Detroit. He appears to either be physically not able to keep up at this age because his puck management and awareness have deteriorated big time.
And he's on track for 40 points with no PP time.Officially graduated from prospect status into full time NHLer: he's a beast defensively. Not many first full season defensemen NHLers who've been this good defensively in recent memory

Maybe. But according to TSN he's not as good as Easton Cowan lmao. Will be the best player from the 2021 draft
