I'm not speaking whatsoever to whether or not he would want to nor if it would make sense. Just calling out that he has the easy option to him to become a free agent next summer and go wherever he wants should he want to.Not really sure what you're talking about, but in any event, it's all a hypothetical. As a rebuilding team with a youth movement, with Seth Jones multi-year commitment gone, only 1 veteran RHD in the org in Murphy whose contract expires after 2025-26, the Blackhawks would be a good fit for Rinzel who would make the NHL roster if he's ready with less concern about them running off to sign veterans to fill his spot. His only real long-term competition is Levshunov and then you have a guy like Crevier with a lower ceiling. So there's little reason to think Rinzel would be angling for the Free Agent game if the Blackhawks would like to sign him which they very likely would.
It's quite rare for high end players to be in this situation in the first place and even more rare for them to go through with it.
