Great pick by Colorado.

Re-reading this thread I kinda like the Derek Morris comparison, but the younger Derek Morris that had a couple of solid seasons early in his career.

Meloche doesn't have a lot of weakness in his game. He's big, smart, great skater, plays physical, joins the rush and can man the point on the PP very well.

Perhaps counts as an 'off the board' pick for the avs, with some more publicized names still available. If this kid is a project, it looks very promising.

Really happy Colorado took him. Meloche was on my list of D I hoped would be there at 40. Really fits the mold of a smart, versatile, two way D with size that the Avs covet. Very much excited to watch him develop.

Despite being on the worst team in the CHL he's been really good this year. 5G+3A in 12 games but with a decnt team around him he'd be ppg+. I'd expect him to be traded at some point as the Drakkar are in full rebuild mode. Anyone else been watching him?

Meloche traded to Gatineau for quite a haul. I'm looking forward to watching him on a competitive team, though he was doing all he could for the Drakkar.

Big game today with 1G+2A giving him 100 points in his career. Since he's an avs prospect he gets 0 attention but he's one of the better D prospects out there. Hopefully the avs don't **** him away like they did with Wood.

Don't even put that out there. Luckily Meloche has that nasty-streak and dedication that Wood lacked; though I'm still irritated we traded Wood away for f***in Boedker.

Like most defencemen Meloche is going to take a few years in the "A" to develop. But when he is ready He should be a beast. Hopefully avs don't rush him

The impressive thing about him aren't his numbers, it's his D game. Other teams are benching their top guys once he hits the ice. Such a dominating presence in his own zone, as mean as they get as well.

He definitely has the size, strength and defensive awareness to play in the NHL. If he can bring his offense he could make a very interesting player. He was fun to watch in Hull.

Congratulation !

With his impressive passing & ability to take advantage of his shot, the kid really should be a good two way guy on top of that nasty defensive presence that I'd love to see someday forming a shutdown partnership with Zadorov.

I feel Meloche is pretty underrated at this point, he's going to be a great pro. His size and mean streak along with his defensive play are what get him noticed but he's really excellent at moving the puck. Has all the tools you'd want in a modern two way defenseman.

I did not know about this player before but he is debuting with the Sharks currently and wow does he look good. Picked up his second NHL assist today.

6 ft 3, big kid and decent skater so he is rangy and covers good ice. Pretty good hockey IQ as well makes lots of nice little passes that facilitate possession and break outs.

He looks to me like he could have top 4 upside, at the very least a solid 3rd pair guy.

He's a RD though and we have Burns, Karlsson, Merkley who are RDs. I like him but he will be sent down when Karlsson comes back so he's seen as a depth option by the organization. We had Christian Jaros recently (former Sen, RD also) and he was given a small look (a few games) and then was moved out because we just don't have room for him.
