He looked really good last night. The chemistry between him and Savoie continuing right where they left off with the Sherwood Park Crusaders and into Denver.

Excellent pick by the Panthers.

Glad to hear he’s off to a strong start. I had him as a first round talent who likely went off the board in the 2nd. Never thought he’d slip to #95...great pick by Fla
 
really underrated pickup by Fla, its really hard to scout the AJHL though, but comparison to Makar on paper is not completely unwarranted.

Makar, Holloway, Savoie, and Benning.

Makar we know is a stud, and those other 3 recent picks were all elite top end players in the AJHL.

Some of those really high end players out of the AJHL are trending well. It’s a more difficult league to scout and project compared to the WHL, but there’s some real talent that can be found there.

Benning has been impressive in my viewings of the University of Denver to watch Savoie. 5 assists in his first 3 NCAA for Benning against all top tier type teams is encouraging.

Usually Universities stick a specific area or group of teams to scout from with the limited budgets as they arent a "Head Count" university sport.

Denver has a group of teams that includes the sherwood Park crusaders to the Camrose kodiaks and few more which are just down the road
Kind of started with former Boston 1st round pick Joe Colborne back in 2009.
so it has continued.

My favorite part of his game is he waits for passing lanes to open while in transition and is just nailing zone exit stretch passes.
He got popped a few times on heavy forecheck hits early on, and adjusted his game accordingly.

Umm, you realize Michael Benning is related to NHL great Matt Benning? He has his own big brother that is casting a long shadow.

Can anybody who watches DU hockey fill me in on how he's looking in his sophomore season? I was able to follow him for a few games last season but can't find the time this year
 
Any Denver fans in here able to go in depth on his game or last 2 years?

Been a near PPG player and seems to have 2nd pair potential and PPQB ability in the NHL?
