I might get some flack for this, but I would still draft him, and I don't think this incident is something that escalates to the level of concern that was brought about by a guy like Mitch Miller from last year.
I am probably the youngest person on this board right now, so in a way, I guess I have a little bit of a different perspective on these actions than most other people. What Mitch Miller did was absolutely brutal. It's disgusting, I have never seen bullying even close to as bad as what Miller did, and to have someone show so little remorse for it is quite frankly absurd. He is a truly awful person.
Logan Mailloux, on the other hand, I wouldn't say is a bad person in the way that Mitch Miller is, but rather, a person who succumbed to the teenage-guy peer pressure culture that is present in this day and age. Some people seem to think that he is the only teenager, let alone teenage hockey player about to be drafted, that has done something similar, while I can assure you that is not the case. He's just the one that got caught. The number of teenagers that have stuff like nudes on their phones that they shouldn't have is way larger than you'd think. I think that whole concept of sending nudes and having pics of whoever you're getting with is quite frankly ridiculous, but believe me, it is ever-present in teenage lives. It's a trophy, in a way, to be able to show off, and often, kids are pressured into taking these kinds of photos by their friends. Logan fell victim to this, and thus, he decided to jeopardize his career over something so trivial. Teenagers don't really realize how serious what they are doing is because it happens so frequently, but Mailloux is showing just how dangerous doing something like what he did can be. Mailloux clearly seems to regret what he did, seems very apologetic to the victim and her family, and was willing to let the story become public for the world to see via the article posted above and wasn't going to try and hide it. He accepted what he did, he's seeing a psychologist every week, and seems to be actually taking strides to improve himself.
I in no way think the actions taken by Mailloux are okay. They are quite simply terrible for the victim. In this media-based day and age, though, this is something that is more common than you'd like to see amongst teenage guys, and because of that, teenagers think it's okay to do things like this. Mailloux seems to be taking steps to improve and better himself. He regrets what he did. But, if teams knew every single thing every single player in the draft did and had stored on their phones at some point or another or said to their friend once, they'd have dirt that would make them question drafting 25-30% of the guys eligible to be drafted. Mailloux is taking steps to improve himself and regrets what he did. A guy like Mitch Miller did not regret anything he did, and his actions were in my opinion worse, and he does not deserve a second chance. In my personal opinion, Mailloux does though.
Once again, I just want to reiterate that I in no way think these actions are okay by any means. They are terrible and absolutely defaming for the victim, especially in the way that Mailloux shared them with his team. I'm just giving a younger person's perspective on these actions knowing the kind of teenage culture that exists in this day and age.
