"There is no bigger wildcard in the draft than Mailloux, and it’s all because of an off-ice incident in Sweden that had him kicked off his Hockey Ettan team in Skelleftea and sent back to Canada. He subsequently wasn’t invited to play for Canada in the U18 despite being talented enough to be on the top pairing, and a player that scouts saw very little of in the first place became even more difficult to assess.“Whoever drafts him will do their home-work,” admitted one scout who went to watch him at the prospect showcase in Erie,PA in early June."

From a draft publication..... What I'm trying to find out is what happened?
Which draft publication is this? The only off-ice factors I can find are his expiring loan, COVID travel restrictions, and the potential start of the OHL season.

*edit: Recrutes. I just downloaded Recrutes' guide, and it's there sure enough.

Logan and Maggio was not kicked out of SK lejon, thet went home because of Corona restrictions and visum rules.
And yes he was convicted for a sexual crime against a female in early November .
Hopefully he matures and takes things a bit more seriously.

I can confirm this.

Link?

To specify, he was found guilty of discriminating photographs, and slander. Which is a direct translation, might be called something else in English. Would've gone to jail most likely if he was half a year older. Also, since he didn't technically live in Sweden he escaped more severe punishment like youth service.

SK Lejon didn't care about it and he played his last game for them two months after his judgment was passed onto him.

SK lejon did care about it but Logan was 17 at the time and because of the Geneva convention law they couldn't kick him out.
Its the same law that allowed one defencmen in Skellefteå AIK j18 to continue to play do to the fact he was convicted of rape a few years back

Looks like the local paper, Norran, has covered the story, but it's behind a paywall (and in Swedish). Sounds like it was a photograph(s?) of a girl he took without her permission.

When Jysk wrote sexual crime, I thought it was much worse. Incredibly stupid, but I thought it might be a Mitchell Miller 2.0 kind of situation. Still I think he might fall quite heavily in the draft, or end up on several team's do not draft lists because of it.

Pretty sure he is on some teams DND list after this incident.

I can speak a bit of Swedish, this is what I found out:
  • Logan got in contact with a teenage girl via social media early November, met up and took a picture of her, presumably naked and without her consent, and shared it with other players from the team in their app group. He also shared her name.
  • Several of Logan's teammates got pissed at him and the photo quickly got deleted
  • Apparently staff knew about it before the victim confronted the organisation
  • The club was not looking to charge Logan, but the victim wanted to and went to the police
  • Logan confessed to the crimes, said he felt terrible about it
  • Logan was charged with taking unsolicited pictures of her and slander in mid December, but there were no serious penalties, presumably just a warning or a slap on the fingers
  • He got lucky because he was underaged and is not a Swedish citizen, therefore escaped further and severely harder penalties. If he was 18 and Swedish, he most likely had to go to jail.

He is on many do not draft lists anymore. What a stupid decision.

Dumb thing for him to do to risk his career. This stuff happens all the time in junior hockey though
Yes because junior players are often arrogant pricks who think they're better than anyone else. That, and this kind of culture is passed from older players to younger ones since a long time ago. Hopefully sometime young athletes will not be disrepectful brats, but I wouldn't count on it. It's what happens when you've always been the best of your group in your sport and firmly believe that you will earn millions playing a game. I know that this post generalizes quite a bit. However, it is widely known and accepted that there are way more young Tyler Seguin types than young Sidney Crosbys.

Exactly. As much as I hate to say it, if you think Logan Mailloux and Mitch Miller are the only ones bullying people and committing sex crimes, give your head a shake. These are teenagers who are extremely popular and have always been allowed to do whatever the hell they want, in most cases.

Junior hockey culture is extremely toxic in general. This is not some isolated event.

I might get some flack for this, but I would still draft him, and I don't think this incident is something that escalates to the level of concern that was brought about by a guy like Mitch Miller from last year.

I am probably the youngest person on this board right now, so in a way, I guess I have a little bit of a different perspective on these actions than most other people. What Mitch Miller did was absolutely brutal. It's disgusting, I have never seen bullying even close to as bad as what Miller did, and to have someone show so little remorse for it is quite frankly absurd. He is a truly awful person.

Logan Mailloux, on the other hand, I wouldn't say is a bad person in the way that Mitch Miller is, but rather, a person who succumbed to the teenage-guy peer pressure culture that is present in this day and age. Some people seem to think that he is the only teenager, let alone teenage hockey player about to be drafted, that has done something similar, while I can assure you that is not the case. He's just the one that got caught. The number of teenagers that have stuff like nudes on their phones that they shouldn't have is way larger than you'd think. I think that whole concept of sending nudes and having pics of whoever you're getting with is quite frankly ridiculous, but believe me, it is ever-present in teenage lives. It's a trophy, in a way, to be able to show off, and often, kids are pressured into taking these kinds of photos by their friends. Logan fell victim to this, and thus, he decided to jeopardize his career over something so trivial. Teenagers don't really realize how serious what they are doing is because it happens so frequently, but Mailloux is showing just how dangerous doing something like what he did can be. Mailloux clearly seems to regret what he did, seems very apologetic to the victim and her family, and was willing to let the story become public for the world to see via the article posted above and wasn't going to try and hide it. He accepted what he did, he's seeing a psychologist every week, and seems to be actually taking strides to improve himself.

I in no way think the actions taken by Mailloux are okay. They are quite simply terrible for the victim. In this media-based day and age, though, this is something that is more common than you'd like to see amongst teenage guys, and because of that, teenagers think it's okay to do things like this. Mailloux seems to be taking steps to improve and better himself. He regrets what he did. But, if teams knew every single thing every single player in the draft did and had stored on their phones at some point or another or said to their friend once, they'd have dirt that would make them question drafting 25-30% of the guys eligible to be drafted. Mailloux is taking steps to improve himself and regrets what he did. A guy like Mitch Miller did not regret anything he did, and his actions were in my opinion worse, and he does not deserve a second chance. In my personal opinion, Mailloux does though.

Once again, I just want to reiterate that I in no way think these actions are okay by any means. They are terrible and absolutely defaming for the victim, especially in the way that Mailloux shared them with his team. I'm just giving a younger person's perspective on these actions knowing the kind of teenage culture that exists in this day and age.

I hope Canucks draft him in the 2nd round -- barring that clickbait headline, that article was largely of him apologizing, acknowledging his actions, and seeking help for it.
JD burke tweeted that hes on Canucks DND list. Can understand why especially with everything going on with Virtanen as well.

I'm actually surprised we don't hear about this thing more often. Knowing what entitled brats these kids tend to be it has to be really common.

This brings back memories to rookie F1 driver and billionaire son Nikita Mazepin sexually assaulting a girl and posting it to his Instagram story in December last year as if what he did was completely normal and acceptable.

These guys seem to live in a world completely different from the rest of us. Just because they're 'successful' they seem to think they can get away with anything.

Admittedly, I am a big fan of his talent. Early on in this year I thought of him as a big time sleeper. The size, shot, talent, it's all there. A little bit of development and he could be a top 4 quality defenseman.

This, gives me pause.

I created a thread on the the Detroit board about DND lists.
