RD Jordan Subban (2013, 115th, VAN)

Where do you guys see him go?
Some rankings had him from 3rd round to early 2nd round.

Has the talent but at 5'9 is a bit undersized for a dman.

Any bulls fans or ppl who seen him play could comment on his play? Comparable to PK in terms of style or different? I have only seen some YouTube highlights.

Would love for OTT to pick him up just to have all Subbans in the same Division, we have no 2nd rounder though :(

I don't think he goes 2nd round unless someone reaches because of his name. I've got him pegged as a guy who could go anywhere between the 3rd-5th rounds. He plays a similar style to PK offensively, but lacks the athleticism and size of his older brother, which will make it tough for him to defend at the next level. Jordan may actually be the better puckhandler at this age, but I don't think some people realize how elite PK's footwork is. Athleticism, strength and footwork will always be the biggest difference between these two d-men.
 
I wouldnt be surprised to see the Habs reach for him with their later 2nd round pick. They could hold off until the 3rd but I doubt that he will still be there when they pick.
 
Size an issue he went 5-6 rounders earlier than his brothers in the OHL draft.
 
Move Jordan Subban to wing?

Most NHL clubs will not draft 5'9 defensemen. Jordan Subban clearly has a lot of talent, but if he does indeed stop growing at 5'9ish, it could be better for his career to play wing where several shorter guys have already proven their worth to the NHL. Should he switch?

I don't think so. Look at Francis Boullion. He's 5'8 and has a decent career. All Jordan has to do is to get stronger and he will be alright.
 
If anything I still bet on him as a NHL team... not only because a few smaller guys have made it but Malcolm is 6'2... PK is 6'0. Jordan could still sprout.
 
He looked absolutley awful defensively in the prospect game. He might be better served switching to the wing. I mean he obviously could grow into something but I don't see it right now.

Campbell = 5'11

Ellis = 5'10 Yet to make an impact in the NHL

Timonen = 5'10

Visnovsky = 5'10

All these guys are much more skilled then J.Subban, and for every 1 player that makes it, there are hundreds that don't.

I don't know that any of them are more skilled than he is (I wouldn't say that Ellis was a whole lot more skilled at his age — and if you're looking at stats, keep in mind where Belleville is in scoring). Jordan is a VERY skilled, young defenseman. What they are is far more reliable defensively. You can teach a certain amount of defense but for where Subban is right now, it's going to be very tough for him to overcome his size.

That's true of any player that ever makes the NHL? Why is it so much more of an issue for small guys than it is for other players?

The NHL is hard to make. 6 foot 3 guys fail just as much as 5 foot 9 guys do...
 
Jordan Subban is only 17, he won't stop growing. He'll probably get around his brothers height. Don't think it'll be a problem.

PK was 5'11 when drafted. I'm sure Jordan will probably end up 5'10 or 5'11. Either way, height is over rated. Patrick Kane is taller than Tie Domi, but that doesn't mean he is more physically imposing. In fact, if two guys of equal weight hit each other, it's often the shorter one with the better leverage and balance.

I'm more interested in his frame and whether he could be 200+ one day. Anyone have an idea? As he does seem to be pretty slight.

Either way, his skills are top notch and he won't last past the 2nd I don't think. His upside will be much higher than most other guys in the 2nd round I'd say, even with the risk.
