The best of a weak crop of 2005 American NTDP blue-liners. Minnetian is a puck-moving/defensive defenseman hybrid in the Brock Faber mold. Really good skater at about 6'0. Defends pretty well. Can move the puck. He has a little offense, but he's not going to be a big point producer in the NHL. Probably profiles safely as like a bottom pairing defenseman in the NHL or even a #4, but lacks the top half of the league upside. Not much flash in his game. Probably like an early second round pick for 2023.

Committed to play for Boston College after one more season at the NTDP.

Good assessment. Does everything pretty well. Strong skill set and overall clean game. Really strong compete level and positioning. Agree he goes somewhere in mid 2.

Minnetian is one of the most interesting player in this team. There is some things which make him look like a first rounder but his game just lacks that last touch. Who knows, maybe 2-3 years in a big role with BC is going to make him a steal. Should rack more points.

Outside of Hutson, he's been the most interesting defenseman on the squad.. I think he has more offensive potential than the production shows.

I think this is one of the defenseman who might really pop. Some of the stuff he was able to show at the U-18s and intermittently at the program during the rest of the year hints at some nice upside.

He never could take the next steps in his development at the NTDP. He's a good player but when you watch him he always leaves you wanting (and thinking) there's more and he hasn't been able to realize it. Great value at this spot no doubt, though.

I've always wanted to see more potential in him than he might actually have. I have often written in different threads that he has the tools, especially for a better offensive game. When I watched his game at the WJC, I was really disappointed, although he improved a bit as the tournament progressed. It seems that he is a project who will never reach the desired level. I've just always thought of him as a player who should find more of an offensive game if he wants to make it as a professional. Now, I wasn't impressed at all with his overall game either.

Can you be specific? What did you find lacking in the WJC?
I found his vision and anticipation to be quite good considering his limited ice time.

Thinking about the game he had against the Czechs and that stretch pass to spring the US for their third goal.
