You could make a case for Liv being the most important name on the roster, so losing her sucks in terms of all the story lines she was caught up in. Even if she's out long term I still think they'd have the option to use her in promos here and there.

It probably makes sense to just pivot and put Perez in for literally everything planned for Liv while she's out. Then when Liv is ready she returns to take back the spot that Perez took. It writes itself

Honestly? Good on Punk letting Cena "Pipebomb" him while through a table while Cena had to deal with it 14 years ago. That was pretty masterfully done on them to do this. He gave some good shots too. I'm sure it was all rehearsed and agreed upon but honestly? This kind of puts a nice bow on the whole thing. So, yeah, good on them for doing this!
