While I get the Uso reign wasn't much to talk about...does it not feel like this is just kind of ...rehashed history?
I felt the Gunther WHC run was kinda stale and a weaker version of his International Champion run without the length of it, and giving it back to him just seems rather redundant in terms of storytelling. You've kind of done a fair bit with Gunther already while he was WHC. Now you're just going to what, run it back again?
Eh. Feels like the whole WHC scenario isn't exactly that riveting. And having the Universal champion on Raw showing up from time to time also kind of sullies the whole title importance.
Just feels like a lot of these titles don't have much of a story behind them. Dom doesn't have anyone going right now other than the Balor angle which is a slow cook, Jey was mostly just dealing with Gunther, then some side hustles, then back to Gunther to lose, New Day isn't really doing a lot with the titles either other than gloat and not defend it (which is fine in itself being they're heels and all), Iyo just came off of the whole everyone is gunning for her and not respecting her, which was played a bit weird and didn't sit right with me, and yeah. Like, Raw's side of the titles are just stuck in the mud in neutral right now.
And you rehash Gunther as your champ? Why not just use that as one of the quickest ways to cash in the money in the bank and have Seth come and obliterate Jey after winning a second time.
I would have had Jey win, but Seth come in, cash in, demolish him, and have Seth win. Then you have Jey have something going with Seth for a bit, with Gunther still going around, where you can delve it into a triple threat at Summerslam or something.
Bah. I'm being picky. But the ending of the show kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.
