For the most part, yeah. When was wasn't there so frequently fans kind of appreciated him more.
I was growing so tired of him when he was full time. He would win matches he had no business winning because Cenawinslol. The worst of which was Wrestlemania 30 when he beat the white hot Bray Wyatt. That was it for me. I just turned off the TV essentially whenever he came on my screen. I was just tired of his shit. He'd be in a serious feud and then do campy comedy bullshit and make his opponent look like shit.
Yeah I was never a Cena guy until about 2015, I started respecting him just because he had been around so long and I appreciated his star status. And he seems like a nice guy out of the ring, which for some reason has always mattered to me. Now it's to a point where I will legit miss him when he's retired.
Some Cena matches he should have lost but won:
Vs Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2012 - how does Lesnar lose his first match in 8 years?
Vs Nexus at Summerslam 2010 - Nexus didn't recover from this. Not sure if Barrett even beat him one on one.
Vs Wyatt at WrestleMania - Wyatt never got to this level again. Even if Cena had to win the Mania match, Wyatt should have won follow up matches decisively. I don't remember how the feud ended but I do remember Wyatt winning a cage match but it didn't make him look strong at all.
There a few feuds he won though where it elevated the other guy. Edge, Owens and Styles I'd say.
