I mean last week they showed his name in the promo, so it's not a shock they have merch. Also, I don't think they want Penta to be a huge surprise because they'll want more casual fans to look him up before his debut.

Better to do that than have him come out as a surprise Rumble entry to a "Who?" reaction.

And with Penta in the WWE audience, that would probably happen.

Depends on the guy. When you're AJ Styles, you get a reaction. Penta? Not so much.

Same reason they wisely introduced Aldis from ringside rather than giving him a full entrance to no response.

For what it's worth, under the Triple H regime they're very good at knowing their audience and how it will react, and how to counter those reactions.

There is also the argument that knowing someone cool is showing up draws more views then pure surprises.

There should be a balance, but I'm not sure Penta needs to be a surprise.

It's also completely out of the box as along with the merch they have him actually in the merch now.

That was a rough start for sure, Penta not used to the slower, more deliberate wwe pace

but Gable is a perfect guy for this match and its gotten better and better as its gone on

Penta had to do a lot of selling due to Gable focusing on his knee left. So it might have been different than what he's used to (?) but I thought that was a good debut.

Also, Liv making Dom her bitch by putting him in the doghouse.

Penta definitely had to slow things down a touch. He’s balls to the wall, but overall not a bad debut. A few little hiccups.

They didn’t butcher his theme though, that’s a good sign.
