Video got me ready to run through a brick wall for him.
Josh Allen is so inspiring. Anytime I'm scared to do something I just think about him laughing like a maniac while taking hits and trucking people.
I'm old, unfit, stiff and kind of short but the kamikaze mindset let me send a V6 boulder in my first month climbing. I'm bruised and pretty much held together by duct tape and tiger balm at this point but I'll push through.

Smart choice. He's been in the league a while now and knows what it takes. The last few Sabres captains have been at the end of their careers, so they've got the leadership but were hanging onto NHL spots.... or in Eichel's case, way too young. Dahlin's got the ability to lead by words and example.
Eichel was too young, but he isnt leadership material, not the right traits

I disagree with this pick, I would prefer Tuch, but, the decision has been made. Let's hope this team can be better than 2 yrs ago.
Expect that he is a city naitive, I dont see why, especially after how he went through last season

Also to add to this - Dahlin seems like a 'lead by example' type rather than a vocal leader. Which is fine.

He's a legitimately elite player, signed long term & he's not an egotistical prick. It's more than good enough.
I think he is a little more than that. Pulling the guys together for the offseason camp is an example of him being a connector as the captain.

So, while he may not be a great pre-game speech guy, I think that stuff can be really overrated. The key is do they have the guys that will be able to set the standard and then hold others to that standard.

I think Dahlin, and the 4 alternates, can be good at that in different ways.

Easy choice - had to be him as the centerpiece of the current Sabres build. Ferocious competitor and maturing standard-setter who will be on the ice half of every game.

My only worry is echoed by some others - communication. He's not an eloquent guy in English (foreign language? He's lived here 7 years and spoken it his entire life I imagine). The hope is that he continues to develop in this regard as he's thrown into the fire of being the mouthpiece in the locker room and the media.

He's no longer the same shy kid he was when he arrived here, so here's to him maturing into the player and leader this franchise and city desperately need.

They took press photos and stuff in the uniforms already so I’m sure Dahls had already spoken to the guys. But yeah not great.

Luckily we know he’s a lead by example guy
