Does Vegas sign RA? What does his next contract look like?

I think he shot himself in the foot. I’m having trouble seeing everything that’s happened the past few months working out positively for him in regards to term and money vs what offers looked like before the trade (9x7 from Boston) whether he signs in Vegas or walks and goes elsewhere.

I don't know if you can ask any of these types of questions until everyone sees how Tortorella is received and more importantly, if he is the coach going into next season or just through this postseason.

The cap is up 9 million dollars and he is one of like 2 quality players under 30 available (him and tuch)

He is getting a bag if he hits UFA.

I have no doubt he gets paid if he hits FA. I’m just saying if you asked me back when the trade was made, I would’ve bet he would be doing better, and had a contract in place by playoffs. He seems to have been patient during the trade process and is still betting on himself. Things are a bit iffy now and I’m not sure Sweeney would be sprinting to hand him that same 9x7 again, but could and others would be more likely to go big on him.

The speculation from Lebrun is they already have a deal agreed upon. Vegas however does not have the cap space for an Andersson extension until 7/1 when Petro can be placed on SELTIR for next year.

If I had to guess it will be a smidge less than Theodore and Hanfiin. 7x7.

I think 9 million dollars will be fairly easy for him to hit tbh if he wants it.

Like those are numbers that were consistently reached by UFA dmen when the cap was at 80 mill, let alone 104

A lot will depend on if he steps up in the playoffs, if he's looking lost out there vs McDavid and Leon for an entire series then I'd be happy to let someone else throw $8 million or more at him
Id imagine he would’ve taken a tax free state discount had he signed this winter vs Boston offer so 7.5-8 feels right if you guys retain him.

As a Vegas fan, what concerns you most about his play since he’s come to town? What I have seen, he doesn’t seem to click as well as I expected, but maybe this coaching change will help remedy some of that.

I dunno, Vegas can be pretty ruthless. Don't get me wrong, I respect it, most players aren't looking out for the teams either. Don't know if it matters that they've agreed on a deal or not, until it is signed and registered it isn't a deal. I hope for the best for Rasmus, always liked him but he may have cost himself big by vetoing that Boston trade.

I hope you didn't give up a first thinking hes going to stop McDavid haha. That's not who he ever was.

The point is the lack of an extension now means nothing because they literally can't extend him because as of right now they only have 3m in space for next year.

Is this recent from Lebrun? I remember at the time of the trade a lot of people thought they probably had a wink wink nudge nudge agreement. That being said it would be on brand for Vegas to let him walk without it if he’s not a fit. I imagine it will be pretty much tied to their playoff performance

Dorofeyev is going to need a hefty raise too

Here’s what I believe is probably happening: the Golden Knights can’t actually extend him at the moment, per CBA rules. My understanding of the situation is that they currently only have $3.2 million in projected cap space for next season, which includes Alex Pietrangelo’s $8.8 million cap hit. Vegas has the lowest 2026-27 projected cap space available currently among all 32 teams. And clearly an Andersson extension will cost more than $3.2 million per year.

But it’s not a big deal. Eventually, Vegas will obviously be able to put Pietrangelo back on LTIR for next season and, on July 1, the salary cap officially jumps in a big way. Even before then, the Golden Knights could move money out after the season, in May or June, depending on how long they play this spring.

The point is, they will eventually be able to extend Andersson, but they can’t do it right now. That is my understanding of the CBA rules.

As far as Dorofeyev, the most likely outcome is they dump Karlsson. At that point they'd have about 18 million to split between Doro, Rasmus and another bottom pair D to replace Lauzon.

No but for a 1st you'd hope he could at least weather the storm a bit and I'm not even confident that'll happen at this rate lol

I think we had Andersson and Hanifin paired together when Edmonton destroyed us in the playoffs haha.

Tanev, Gio, and Backlund were the only ones that did much against McDavid.

You gotta think not knowing who the coach is going into next season may throw a wrench in things a little. Might as well revisit in the offseason.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'd personally be surprised if he was willing to take 7x7. He's been underpaid to his value pretty much his whole career, so will be interesting to see.

It was also 8x9.5 he turned down to go to Boston no? Or was it 8.5. I don’t remember

Markstrom is to blame for that series, he was shell shocked the entire series, couldn't give us even a period where he looked like a normal goalie.

I don't think he shot himself in the foot. Pretty sure he just broke his leg blocking someone else's shot.

Yeah I just can't see Vegas giving him more than Theodore. On the open market I'm sure he could get a 9 AAV offer, but he seems to want to be in Vegas.

Anyone paying this turd more than Lane Hutson should be fired. Not a 1d on any team in the league.
