I don't really have a proposal here, more throwing out an idea...

If Vegas succeeds in trading Hertl, the speculated follow-up move would be to sign Marner. Would they then take the return they got for Hertl and use it to grab Rasmus Andersson?

He's cheap and fills the RHD void that will possibly be left by Pietrangelo.

I could see it but I could just as easily see them get virtually nothing for Hertl. At that point all they could really offer for Andersson is something like Connelly and Hague/Whitecloud.

Did Rasmus play a lot with Hanifin?

I guess they could get gouged because of his near full NMC, but $6.75M for Hertl is a pretty good deal.

70 point Top 6 forwards are gonna go for more than that from here on out. Boeser and Ehlers probably get close to $9M each.

I'm just basing it off their past history of dumps. They got nothing for Schmidt (top pair D in Vegas) Stastny (productive 2nd line center) Pacioretty (productive top line wing) Fleury (coming off a Vezina). When they dump salary for signing it generally gets pennies on the dollar.

I wish it were different obviously. And I absolutely despise the idea of moving Hertl to sign Marner for double the money when our biggest area of need is goal scoring.

If it's any consolation, Marner has less playoff goals in his entire career than Sam Bennett had this year.

Have a hard time seeing the assets from Vegas to make it worthwhile for Calgary.

And yes, Andersson and Hanifin played a LOT of minutes together.

I could see the cap opening up leading to way more potential suitors this time.

They played almost exclusively with each other. They are very familiar with one another

Andersson and prospect for Hertl and Hague.

Hague was been in the shadows in Vegas but I believe he is a legit top 4Dman if given the opportunity. He's often moved up to the top pairing when injuries happen and he hasn't looked out of place at all.

Andersson won't re-sign in Buffalo so even though Buffalo has a bunch of interesting assets and are of need of his services, it's all moot if Ras won't re-up.
Unless Andersson has told you personally this is purely your own speculation. One of the "insider" posters on CP said Andersson would be open to signing there, and another said he probably isn't but money talks. Columbus has also been a tire fire for most of their existence but Flames fans seem to think Ras would extend there because of the connection with Monahan, Gudbrandson, and relation to Johnny. Maybe Andersson and Dahlin are very close friends, maybe Dahlin convinces him that he could be a key to their success, maybe on top of that Buffalo is willing to give him the contract he wants

I'm pretty sure Rasmus Andersson isn't dumb enough or arrogant enough to ever think he's the key to Buffalo not being a trainwreck lol.

And that's not a cut on Andersson.

I think better location especially if Leafs can't keep Marner is there. Rasmus Andersson would guarantee he be up on 1st line. He be their best RD and would get ton of minutes on pp and pk as well.
