With Shea Theodore likely out until the playoffs, the Vegas Golden Knights will be looking for a Defensemen, what would the Golden Knights give up for Rasmus Andersson at @50%?

They would get Andersson at $2.275 million for next year and with the cap going up and with Alex Pietrangelo's $8.8 million coming off the books a year later, after Rasmus Andersson signs his contract, they can fit him in.

Jets should definitely be in on Andersson, though it’d preferably be in the offseason so an extension can be discussed.

Calgary would need a big return and giving there play this season, I doubt they move Rasmus, unless it's an offer they can't refuse.

It's Vegas anyways, Theodore will be ready for game 1 of the playoffs.

Sounds like they need a forward

He’d be a pure rental there. While a very Vegas-y move, I have to believe the Flames can get more from a team with eyes on extending Rasmus as a core piece moving forward.
He still has another year left on his contract so he's a bit more than just a rental. More like a 1 year lease with an option to buy.

I was going to say that Calgary has a good chance of making the playoffs and would likely hold onto Andersson, but they might be willing to make that sacrifice and beef up their divisional rivals just to f*** Edmonton in the playoffs.

What would they give? What assets do they have left to give for that? Their next 2 firsts are already traded and I don't think Cataford, Lindbom, or Cormier are particularly high targets so that really just leaves Trevor Connelly who I doubt Calgary has much interest in due to PR reasons.

If Calgary is willing to retain 50% on Andersson every contending team in the league can fit him in. Certainly one of them can make a better offer than what Vegas has available

We tried that last year, didn't work. As for Vegas no logical reason to help them out when we have their unprotected 2026 1st.

As for playoffs, it really depends how Calgary does coming out of the break. We have a game against San Jose but then a brutal road trip before the deadline. Washington, Tampa, Florida, Carolina, Philly, then Dallas on the 6th. Deadline is on the 7th.

Weird team to target

Not the club I'd target.
Better off seeing if Buffalo wants to pony up some of that youth.

Basically this.

I’m not certain what Buffalo’s price would be for one piece or another, but if I were the guy looking to plug the gap left by Shea, I’d look east.

Just as I begin typing “no WC has any desire to help Vegas and wouldn’t” I remember that Mike Grier not only didn’t hang up on McCrimmon immediately (twice), he manages to profit from it.

Still, whatever price is paid would likely be less hard to stomach dealing with a non-PO Eastern team stocking up rather than a Western wild card loading up.
