Speculation: Rasmus Andersson on the block?

No chance Peterka is traded for a player without term.
Not as much of a risk when you can move him at the deadline for a haul if he isn’t resigned. But I understand that Buffalo likely wants more term if they are moving a premium asset like Peterka

I agree that Montreal would obviously be interested, and would likely pull the trigger on a deal after July 1st if Andersson was willing to sign an extension (providing the cost was right obviously).

Would something along the lines of the Calgary 1st, Alex Newhook and Jayden Struble be something that Calgary would consider? Newhook and Struble can jump right into the Flames lineup (under team control) while adding another first is never a bad thing.

Habs defense would certainly be much more balanced if some deal could be worked out:

Hutson - Andersson
Matheson - Guhle
Xhekaj - Carrier

No that is not a package that is particularly interesting to Calgary. Newhook and Struble really don't push the envelope

Fair enough, what would you be looking for?
Calgary's biggest positional needs are a LD with legitimate top 4 potential (or already top 4 caliber) and a centers with legitimate top 6 potential (or already top 6). While Struble and Newhook play both of those positions I doubt they will be anything more than depth players at this point considering both are going into their D+7 years. Calgary would prefer to roll the dice on younger prospects with more upside.

What about Kapanen or Beck? And Matheson and 1st round pick? Would Calgary include Lomberg in a return?

Alright, thanks. Habs don’t have the luxury of being able to give up any young centers, it’s our biggest organizational need/weakness. Although young Kapanen could likely be included and I think he’ll be a solid NHL player.

On defense, maybe Adam Engstrom as a prospect? I consider him to be fairly underrated overall.

Again not sure those are prospects you’re interested in, just throwing out some names based on your last response. Also I appreciate the civil discourse. Cheers.

Andersson + Klapka for Lambert, 2025 1st, and Heinola?

I cant help but think theres a scenario this summer where Morgan Rielly ends up in Calgary. A Leafs' pipedream would be Rielly+ for Weegar, but I could see Andersson+ for Rielly as well.

What’s the +?

It must be something big because the Flames have no need for a 30+ year old defencemen.

Guy was almost minus 40 on a team that almost made the playoffs lol don't know if I'd want to waste too much value on that.
I know facts won't matter because this is your schtick...

but as with every stat, context is needed... like for instance he was on the ice for every single ENG against.... he played the hardest minutes on an offensively inept team.... he played a month of those hardest minutes with Bean and Hanley as is partner... and he played another month with a fractured leg...

Lol was he in the ice for 20 empty netters?

Would have some interest in a Byram for Anderson swap if not for the contract it'd take to get Rasmus signed. Buffalo is paying Dahlin $11 million and Power $8.35 million. Can't hand out another contract to another defensemen in that range paying a guy into his late 30s.
