Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

We really should bring up all the posts post Avs trade of Rantanen coasting/sucking and the same for the first 4 games of Round 1. Dude is an elite talent and Im not shocked at all to see this. Obviously some more consistency would be nice.
I like my playoff performers no matter which team they are in.

If you play good in the last games of the playoffs, you might be a gamer. To me gamer means you can continue lifting up your performance when there is added pressure and Mikko seems like a gamer in that sense. Sakic likely felt like he wasn't worth the risk/investment at this point, but he might have also misread the fact that Mikko wanted to stay and that he would have compromised. It seems like the result of the process pissed of Mikko.

I really think there is a probability Sakic just read things wrong or did not believe in him, otherwise there wouldnt be a 76 page discusssion of people comparing his scoring to Necas. Sakic would not have been alone.

On pace for 3 straight 100+ seasons, always +ppg in the playoffs but sure

I loved the posts that said Rantanen was a MacKinnon merchant and questioned how good he would be not on his wing. Well, that went up in flames!

I hated the Mikko trade the minute it happened. But It has me wondering now, was Bednar and his system just wearing on Mikko (and the rest of the team)? Mikko is flying on some shifts out there, haven't seen him skating that fast in quite some time.

Bednar had Nate and Mikko playing 23-25 minutes a game. You cant go full tilt with that kind of minutes. You have to pace yourself or you get burnt out. Now Mikko is playing under 20 min a game so the workload is much more manageable.

No powerforward can handle 25mins for 82 games and have something left in the tank

Yes 25mins is a joke but they were constantly playing 22-25mins a game. Everyone knows you can’t go all out on every shift, every game. You have to save yourself

Imagine you have a 4th line energy player, double his icetime and do you think he can still be as effective?

One of the reasons per 60 numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt as well.
