Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

Look at the top 5-10 AAV for Forwards
And their playoff production thru 3-4 games:

Kuch 4pts in 3
MacK 5pts in 4
Mathews 5pts in 4
Drai 5pts in 3
McDavid 7pta in 3

then there’s Rantanen with 1 pt in 4 games

All have severely different matchups. Avs have been tremendous defensively where the kings are a dumpster fire. Panthers are great. Sens suck though.

The five you mentioned first have all played for atleast 9 seasons with their current team..this is Rantanens third team this season...these things matter.

Yeah, this makes a huge difference. Necas historically in the playoffs has been neutralized in games where there is no space. He thrives when he has some open ice to make plays. It's part of why the Canes moved on, because they need more guys to score dirty goals.

A guy like Jordan Martinook is leagues apart from Necas's skill, but in a playoff game I'd rather have Martinook than Necas, believe it or not.

Im seeing it and hes a landmine on MacKinnons ankle that Bednar refuses to move off. Even Nelson has been useless offensively and then boom he gets speed going behind his own net and makes a great play.

Way too many plays die on Necas stick in the O. zone resulting in turnovers and no zone presense.

I was hoping for his sake that with MacKinnon on his line he wouldn't try to hero puck it so often and would be more quick to dump it to someone else. Is that just not happening for him right now?

I really hate to see that he is struggling, I thought the new scenery would do him well and that it would bring the best out of him, but on the other hand, it does help validate everything we've said about his game when we looked to move him. The last few years in Raleigh, he was a player that can get scorching hot in the regular season, but becomes far too easy to defend to the point where he's a net negative on the ice during the playoffs.

Necas doing the same thing he does every playoffs.

Meanwhile stankoven has 2 (The guy I wanted to trade Necas for in summer 2024) and Svech has a hatty.

Rantanen is a cancer. Necas just does the homer simpson disappear into the hedges thing in the playoffs. EVERY single time. every time. His best performance was 4G in 14 for the canes (9 points in 14G)

You'll get tired of Nachos dangling his way to a turnover eventually. As for Rantanen? Meh. Best I could tell is the dude is a debbie downer who's too far up his model girlfriend's ass or something. He wasn't here long enough but I am glad he's gone and we aren't sunk in that contract. Dude was just a downer the whole time.

A tad overreactive maybe? You guys dated the hot chick for 2 seconds and got dumped right before the prom. You have the right to always cheer against him and boo him when he comes through once per year but a cancer? Dude has proven to be a great player and great human off the ice. Maybe it was MacKinnon driving the offense maybe not but he is far from a cancer.

Ever date the hot girl, and she "dumps" you then the short girl you traded her in for is actually high energy and ends up being twice as hot?

I mean....

I'll take stankoven and 2x 1st and 2x 3rd over nachos or rantanen any day off the week. K thanks.

Maybe when you play the Devils because the guy becomes Brett Hull lol

I dont disagree. Seems like the Stars may be the loser here so far depending on what Necas does moving forward. Still Mikko isnt a cancer.

Necas hasn't actually been playing too much hero hockey, but his playstyle isn't as effective.

I'm sure Canes fans are aware, but his problem is he isn't strong along the boards and doesn't like holding the puck under physical pressure. So he'll end up making a low percentage play or just dumping it deep. I don't think he's hopeless, but if he wants to be paid he's going to need to start producing in the playoffs.

Ya, pretty much what you're saying. He isn't built for playoff hockey... not that he can't figure it out and adapt but he more or less has one way of playing and when he's on, it's amazing, but he hasn't shown the ability to adjust. He's a super car and performs well at high speeds. Stop and go traffic? Not so much.

Maybe it could work in a series like Kings - Oilers where defense is out the window but when you're going up against top teams that have a strong structure in place and THEY can adjust and clamp down on players then you have to be able to take things in a different direction.

Even with Necas having a great game, I think it's fair to say Rantanen has the edge tonight
Of course Rants has the edge of Nescas. They are different levels of player.,Rants is top line on a wing club. Nescas is a 20 point playoff guy. Far different desire level than queried.
