Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

But what order Puckpedia puts players on peice of paper makes no difference, right?

Benn - Johnston - Bourque
Robertson - Hintz - Rantanen
Marchment - Duchene - Granlund

There now Johnston is on the 1st line because I put it on the internet. The only thing that matters is minutes not magical line you are on, on some fan website.
when did I say that? basically what I meant when talking about Rantanen on the 1st line or the 3rd line. it doesnt matter really as long as hes getting 15-20mins. he's playing with Hintz or Johnson. both great players

All three teams apparently cant lose so do we have a rare win-win-win?
Absolutely not. My favorite team came out best in this trade. Your favorite team came out worst. And we're going to post nightly box scores to prove the point. Today, Necas had zero points or shots and was -1, so the Avs lost the trade today. Check back in two days for an update.

Three point night for Rantanen. I don't understand, wasn't he supposed to be a MacKinnon merchant?

Why did Canes fans lie about him being lazy, shit player, it's odd. Make up fake stories because he wouldn't sign or what?

Reminds me of Bruins fans and Seguin.

Watch the Bruins/Canes game before the deadline and you'll see why Canes fans are upset with Rantanen.

Him not signing is whatever. He didn't ask to be traded to Carolina, didn't want to be there, so him not signing was the expected result.

What WASN'T expected was how little he actually tried while in a Canes uniform. Regardless of how he ended up there and regardless of whether he was leaving by the deadline, for those 13/14 games, he WAS a member of that team and his play should have reflected that. It didn't. He played like he had one foot out the door from the get go, and it became especially obvious in the final 3-4 games.

So it's great that he's putting up empty net points in Dallas now, and I'm sure he'll continue to produce for you, but don't judge Canes fans for their reaction unless you actually saw him play for Carolina.

Game seemed fine to me, setup chances, created chances, made plays.

I think the problem is Canes fans just don't know what type of player their GM acquired and they think he is lazy but they just have no puck knowledge. Rantanen is not a play driver nor a hustle end to end skater, so maybe Canes fans were expecting something different I guess.

Nah, I'm still gonna judge them for whining about trading Necas for Stankoven, 2 1sts, and 2 thirds. Just because there was a guy who made a pit stop there for a dozen games and didn't stick around makes no difference to me.

That's not long enough to build the kind of resentment folks have for him when it should be for their GM who made that initial trade without knowing if he'd be able to re-sign him.

Oh, playing the "ignorant hockey fans" card. Would have expected that from a Canadian fanbase, but a bold take from a Dallas fan.

If you watch a player clearly half-ass it in games for a month, you're going to build resentment towards that player. Especially when you're expecting them to play like a game changing star player.

Is my statement wrong though? I think Canes fans want a player who will non-stop skate all over the ice chasing the puck and hounding the opposition. That is what your team wants. That is not what the player who your GM acquired does.

Now, you and your fellow Canes fans want him, after he told your GM 'No I am not interested in signing here' to completely change how he has played the game his entire life. Since he doesn't.. now he is lazy, ungrateful, dogshit player.

We wanted a game-changing goal scorer. As you can imagine, we have plenty of "effort" guys. We needed a guy that could put the puck in the back of the net, regardless of how it was done. What we got was a player that couldn't complete or receive a pass if his life depended on it, and was actively making his linemates worse. It's not a coincidence that the one game where his linemates (Aho and Jarvis) really thrived during his time here was also the one game where he was injured.

Nah, he's none of those things. You don't have a career like he's had by being those things. However, how he played in Carolina definitely changed my view of him. Like I said, him signing or not signing is ultimately whatever. It's not a knock against him if he didn't want to stay. What IS a knock against him is his performance in Carolina and the lack of real desire to help that team win games as a member of said team

Nice to see that Rantanen had a good game that showed up on the scoreboard as well. Necas didn’t have a great game last night but it is what it is, he’s been very consistent so I can’t be mad.

Why is this thread still going lol. Who cares now, Avs are happy and Stars are happy. Carolina ended up with a good young player also.
Eh it’s interesting to keep track of. Aside from a couple people looking for arguments it’s produced some decent conversation I think.
