Dear lord that is some domination.

I wasn't sure how well Mackinnon and Necas would work together because they are both such puck dominant players, but it's obviously working out pretty well.

Thru 230 mins together at 5v5, they have a 70% xG%. That's ridonculous.
Well I guess when one of them doesn't have the puck the other one does

How can a player take a discount when they don't know the market rate? That's just clickbait content, unless they know for a fact the numbers being kicked around. This summer, after the Draisaitl deal, perhaps in Rantanen's mind, 13/12.5 was a discount. Obviously he signed for 12/year so would he have accepted 11.75 from the Avs at the time? I sincerely doubt it.

The reality is Rantanen was a great player for the Avs, but when you play the game going into a contract year the team is absolutely justified in accessing options. He thought he was indispensable and the Avs thought differently. He's not at fault for wanting to access his value through FA and the Avs aren't at fault for looking around. That's the business of the game.

The other thing is the Avs really have underperformed outside their Stanley Cup year, when they were stacked. To me, the team plays a bit less than the sum of their parts. That's not all on Rantanen, and everyone from Mackinnon/Makar on down deserve the blame. But the team needs better results in the playoffs, so I don't think the Avs FO can be blamed for shaking up the system, especially when Necas looks to be a very capable replacement.
what? thats not at all how it went

He wasn't, as was confirmed by the Canes GM

When your first words to Canes management are ‘I don’t want to be here’ and then your performance noticeably tanks, it sends a pretty clear message that you aren’t interested in pulling your weight.

But he never said that. All he said was he wanted to sign in Colorado and that was prior to the trade. Yet they still traded for him lol

Of course that's what he will say because he never expected that he could be traded. Funny enough that's what Stastny said during the season before going UFA and losing him for nothing to a divisional rival again. Rantanen is not the guy in Colorado and as great as he was for us paying him over 12M$ to play in the same line as Mackinnon doesn't make sense if you don't address your depth. We saw that last year and again the year before against Seattle.

Again, deflecting from the fact that Rantanen was being a pouty child because of a situation he fully knew could happen. But are you saying that Brindamour was lying?

rantanen just about cracked 100 while playing with MacKinnon/makar. wouldn't bet on him doing that again, as Dallas doesn't have anyone at that level to play with him

I think he’s good enough where he could still put up big numbers on a line with Robertson and Hintz or Johnston if they ran them like the Avs run their big guns, but Dallas also has the depth where he’s not going to get the same big minutes. He was playing 22+ in Colorado.

I'm not saying anything, I'm simply sharing what Carolina's GM said today. He actually did basically mention that Brindamour was exaggerating too lol

I don't see anything wrong with what Rantanen did.
