yeah you don’t understand it appears. Did yo7 know you that you can drive play and generate good chances and not score goals and assists?
Or, maybe we may want to rethink the credence we place in flawed analytics resulting in zilch? While I'm sure Rantanen looks better than his production with the Canes suggests... the reality is he must score actual points (and a lot of them) to justify his status and future contract. The NHL is a results-on-the-ice business, not paperwork.

Yeah, I wonder if teams will refrain from offering 8 digit caphit , should be an interesting offseason for ufa

If he was Burt Ward Robin, he'd get 13.75.

Mikko is an incredible goal scorer. He’s better than Necas at that. He also has an amazing playoff resume.

However, Necas’ speed and ability on the puck results in him driving the play almost every shift. He’s not a passenger like Mikko has been for a couple of years now; Necas grabs the steering wheel and puts the pedal to the metal.

Canes should've traded for JT Miller hehe

He will get no less than 11 million, he's just a Robin, but he's a legit Robin.
Yeah, problem is he needs to be Batman in Carolina lol. Like you said, rants needs to be your 2nd or 3rd best player. If he’s your highest paid player, expect dissapointment. It’s kinda like kessel and stamkos. They were like 4th/5th best player on their respective cup teams. Rants can be a good robin, just make sure he isn’t paid more then Batman!

Necas has continually surprised me. I generally consider myself quite knowledgeable about hockey (I probably watch 7 or 8 games a week) and I had no idea he was this good. I clearly don’t watch the canes often.

Rants is going to take a while to adjust. He’s actually looked really good on a lot of nights and his shooting percentage is unsustainably low. His underlyings are looking fantastic. The canes just play a much more defensively responsible system than the Avs do (based on my small 6 game sample size I’ve watched), have a tendency to be more grindy and it’ll take Mikko sometime. Is he a 100 point player without Nate? I very much doubt it, but time will tell. I still think he’s going to be an impact player for the canes.

Stamkos was never the same after he broke his leg, but he still was Batman, they just got Kucherov (definite Batman as well) and Point to help him out, but shit scoring against Montreal in his one game was pretty Batman like

Necas is a tricky player to fully evaluate. He's 26 and, until this season, his highwater mark has been 71 points in 82gp. Early this season, he was scoring at a 133-point pace which was never sustainable. Before the trade, he was coming back down to earth on the Canes, but with the Avs, he sure looks more like a 90-100+ point player than a 70-75 point guy. Tonight he had 3 points and legit should have had 5... he was that good.

Yeah, that performance tonight was probably better than anything Rantanen had put up this year on the Avs, I'm sure Mikko had a 4 or 5 point game, but Necas tonight was god tier.

Necas has looked great so far, I’d even say snakebitten a bit, but the biggest concern I still have is how much he’ll be able to produce in the playoffs. We all made fun of Rantanen for looking absolutely terrible all game but somehow always came up with 2,3 points. He was doing this in the playoffs as well.

I could see Necas breaking 100 points this season, but I could also totally see Rantanen scoring 30 points in the playoffs and winning the CS.

As mentioned already, we won’t be able to evaluate the trade until the playoffs.
Good point and we all are courious

Not surprising to see Rantanen's point production slowing down since he's no longer playing with MacKinnon.

The good news for Carolina is hopefully it lowers his value
Not trying to oversell his skill, but I have very little expectation he will continue in Carolina. He just doesn't fit the style of the team (nothing wrong in that). He'll probably sign for 12+ somewhere else. Would be funny if after the caplimit rises, he'll sign with Colorado :D
