Going from necas to stank is not so bad considering how much of a debacle this trade was. Nice recovery canes.

I appreciate your optimism, but Necas is a certified stud right handed forward who was signed at a great cap hit for another year.

The entire thing is a disaster, but I always appreciate teams who have balls to go for it. It's kind of how I felt about the Duchene trade when Dorion made it. I know how messed up of a move it was, but a sick part of me was excited at all the chaos.

I think the reason it is taking time is Dallas/Rantanen are negotiating an extension

If they get one done, they would probably give more back to Carolina. If not, then the return could be less.

They could still get Crosby if that was an actual thing.

If Pittsburgh trades Crosby, it won't be a homerun return. It will be closer to the Iginla situation, where the player basically does the closest thing to negotiating his own trade out of respect. Mittelstadt, a 1st in like 2039 and a bunch of weird conditional picks, and you've got the Crosby return.

Mavrik Bourque would also make a ton of sense for Carolina. A right-handed center (a player type that the Canes are coveting for their 4th line) who just turned 23. If Nikishin and Morrow pan out as prospects next season, Stankoven and Bourque could give us a bit of a Presti/OKC vibe with a pending Gen Z talent wave of Svechnikov/Jarvis/Kotkaniemi/Stankoven/Bourque/Blake/Nikishin/Morrow.
