Considering how injury prone/retired/suspended our entire top9 is besides Mikko and Mack good luck if Mikko is gone 🫣

When has Mikko ever been injured... You get what you pay for, hes on the ice week after week.
I mean Mikko was injured quite a lot earlier in his career, but so much of that was bad luck TBH.

We don't necessarily need a Top-10 goalie in the league. We'd be fine with a guy who's in the 15 to 25 range... as long as they are just consistent.
Yeah well, we can sign a guy like Lankinen next year for 6x5 and then he might bomb out and become the next Jack Campbell.

Not sure where you're getting this from but ok.

After the game in Dallas just give Mikko whatever he wants and trade Mack. Problem solved.

Where did his absolute beast of skating from last year went? He looks so pedestrian and non lethal out there.

The real MVP this season has been Mikko.
He scores and gets the points. He's not as quick or flashy as Mack and usually Nate is the superior player, but not this season.
I don't really understand the hate this guy gets. Even when he gets a hattrick people bounce on him lol.
I've seen people say that he's lazy, but what does that even mean? A lazy player once again on pace for 40+ goals and 100+ points...

Even 12 seems awful high to me. I understand no one else really cares what it looks like 2+ years down the line, but for some dumb reason, I do.
Does 12 seem high though? From 20/21-24/25 he's 4th in points(behind McDavid, Mack, and Drai) and and 4th in goals league wide(behind Matthews, Drai, McDavid). So over a prolonged period of time he and his agent have a very good argument to keep him in the same area as essentially the same neighborhood as the highest contracts in the league. I wouldn't want to pay him 14 if he gets to UFA, but he has every argument going for him to essentially get whatever he wants.

So its actually LeBrun whos idea the 14mil is and not Rantanen or his agent...
Not really.

"I think Rantanen believes he can make $14 million (annually) on the open market."

LeBrun wouldn't just throw a random number out there. When LeBrun or Friedman say "I think" it's not the same as when Dater says "I think".

Actually it really does seem high. For all of his production, he still relies extremely heavily on someone elses ability to make a sweet ass pass through traffic for him to one-time. The fact that he converts those does need to be rewarded. I just happen to think MacKinnon money is too much and 10-12 is the range not 12-14.

But...inflation is a motherf***er and we are seeing the NHL salaries rebound post-covid now rather than a year or two earlier when businesses were raising salaries for regular workers post covid.

I don't hate Mikko, but when I get annoyed with his play it's usually for poor defensive play, low-effort backchecking, lazy offsides, losing puck battles, and falling down.

He certainly puts in effort in front of the net, when he gets the chance to one-time it, or tip it, and behind the net. That's where he gets those points. Points does not mean he puts in effort everywhere on the ice. And as a player who wears an A gets tons of ice time, how he plays in every situations matters.

I would hate to lose Rantanen, it would suck quite a bit just based on his time here and the caliber player he is. But the fact that he’s not signed is a huge concern. Also, it’s going to take a trade chip like Rants to get anyone even remotely close to a number 1 goalie.

Aside from maybe Gibson? Folks that do not want him, can you imagine how much better our record would be with him though? I’ve been looking at stats and my god, Georgiev and Annunen are so bad it’s almost laughable. Teams aren’t going to be in a hurry to just hand us better goaltending, though.

I try not to be doom and gloom but we are absolutely cooked without a goalie lol

I don't remember seeing another player of that size losing so many battles along the boards. It is mind blowing.

Also the number of falls he takes per game is also mind blowing. This guy is probably very near to one fall per shift on average. I am absolutely convinced that there isn't another player even close to him in that category. There should be a new stat created by the NHL for FPG (falls per game) or FPS (falls per shift). That would be interesting.
