Prospect Info: Ranking #8

Why Geertsen? I'm just wondering what people see in him. He seems like a bottom pairing defensive d.

He added some offensive touch to his game last year and is developing nicely, could come close to Siemens in terms of potential. At this point I don't know that any of our D prospects outside of Bigras we can really say if they are top 4 or bottom pair material either way.

Wood and Butcher seem to have more potential. Even Colin Smith has top 6 potential.

For those saying add Rendulic, why him over Everberg?

From the very little we know Rendulic seems to be a more dynamic player/scorer who was playing in a first tier league (Finland). Everberg put up lesser numbers on a team in the 2nd tier in Sweden. Personally I feel that either of these two guys, being older and having played in better leagues, are further along in their development than guys in Junior hockey. The biggest challenge for bother Rendulic and Everberg is to adapt to the smaller NA ice surface. There seems to be a feeling with both of these players that their games will work better on the smaller ice. We shall see.

What makes you say he is more dynamic? His skating is nothing to brag about. He does show some good hands/stick though in his highlights, but Everberg is reported as having good technical skills as well.

How far is the gap between the leagues? I was under the impression that Sweden as a whole was well ahead of the rest of Europe and figured that their 2nd league would be about on par with Finlands top league. But I admit I'm quite ignorant on the subject.

Everberg actually scored more this past year, in 10 less games, just FYI.

Rögle is a good team, they would play in SM-Liiga in Finland for sure.

Everberg came up big in the SHL qualifications, his development curve is great. I haven't seen much of him personally, but a good friend of mine is a huge Rögle fan and was devastated that they lost him.

Hm yeah it is a good question and probably not one fair to say without seeing both Rendulic and Everberg in action. Everberg's team has been bouncing from SHL to 2nd league for several years so he does have some SHL experience under his belt. It looks like Everberg was playing some in the SHL when he was 18 years old. So judging from their resumes its not really apparent one way or the other.

Good to know, Spender. if you get a chance, I'd love to know what your friend liked about him.

Interesting that Butcher took the lead now. Its going to be close, y'all better choose so we don't have to do a tiebraker!
