The following players all had terrific runs en route to a championship and very deserving of Conn Smythe recognition. All three also eclipsed the 30-point plateau:
  • Sidney Crosby in 2009:
    • 31 P - 15 G - 16 A in 24 games. Led the playoffs in goals, #2 in scoring and assists.
  • Evgeni Kuznetzov in 2018:
    • 32 P - 12 G - 20 A in 24 games. Led the playoffs in scoring and assists, #3 in goals, led the SCF in scoring with 8 P
  • Nikita Kucherov in 2020:
    • 34 P - 7 G - 27 A in 25 games. Led the playoffs in scoring and assists. T-1 in SCF scoring with 8 P.
Which order would you rank these in?

all overrated

probably Kuznetsov tops, the blow effect

edit: wait this is Crosby 2009, then while also overrated it's gotta be tops of these

Crosby is #1- for how much he carried goalscoring burden alongside Malkin for Pens.
Also Pens 2009 won without top quality winger in the top 6. Plus he eat up tough minutes vs Redwings top guys

Kuznetsov #2- Caps get over hump because they get a quality C who showed up in playoffs, and he score much more goals than Kucherov, and had some very critical plays.

Kucherov- perimeter pansy. Had stacked team. Huge dropoff in goals. Clear #3

Kuznetsov playoff run was insane. That guy was flying. He was miles better than Crosby in their series against the Pens. Hate to say it, but he should've gotten the Smythe over Ovechkin. He was absolute magic on ice.

I thought Kucherov had a better playoff run in 2021. Him and Vasilevskiy were 50/50 for my Smythe pick. 2020 was easily Hedman with Point also being the clear second. Though as a whole team performance 2020 was a more dominant run than 2021.
