Absolutely this. Copp can play C, Lehks cant. You would have taken Lehkonen for Nils and a 2nd over Copp (Barron and conditional first and a second?). I think we gave up a tiny bit less and got the much better player.
So why is that a C+ lol.I would say a B-/C+
I'm not really sure we should be in the rental game at this point, but he really didn't give up that much. If they make the ECF, I'm not going to be upset they gave up pick 29 at worst. With his concussion history, it was good to get injury protection as well on him needing to play 50% of playoff games in the first two rounds.
Not one top prospect was moved, and most likely he will have all his first round picks this summer to use for a potential bigger trade.
I would say B
Only deal that’s just okay is Copp. They’re not going to re-sign him so that package is steep but whatever
Everything else was fine, if I don’t have to see Reaves, McKegg and Gauthier anymore, we’re good lol
A-
Didnt go all in which at rhis point is good but bolstered the bottom 2 lines with legit nhlers. Copp was one of my targets and he landed him. Motte for a 4th is a steal. Just wish he'd found a taker for Geo.
I mean if something happens to Shesterkin we are toast anyway. Can't trade Geo. I wanted them to but, if something happens to Sheshterkin and Geo is gone, all the capital you just spent on Braun, Vatrano, Motte and Copp is for nothing.
He’s looking for 5 million a year at least, he turned down a slightly lesser contract from Winnipeg. They don’t have the money to be spending 5 million on a third liner, and I have no idea if Copp is good enough to play 2CEh, don't be so sure. Depending on Copp's contract demands, he might be resigned. Maybe as a replacement for Strome (although, I hope they look for an upgrade on 2C since Copp is the perfect 3C).
Agreed on this point. It's an important one to understand. He's been pretty shrewd to this point, all things considered. And I mean that as a compliment. If nothing else, Drury demonstrated awareness of both roster weaknesses and stage of the build. Gotta give him at least a B+.

We also didn't know if Strome was good enough to play 2C.He’s looking for 5 million a year at least, he turned down a slightly lesser contract from Winnipeg. They don’t have the money to be spending 5 million on a third liner, and I have no idea if Copp is good enough to play 2C
Drury went all in? I don't know how anyone could conclude that. Every high value prospect is still in the Rangers organization except Barron.Because of the Copp overall return, and me not thinking this was the year to go all in on rentals.
And unless Gallant moves Strome off 2C, we probably won’t know lolWe also didn't know if Strome was good enough to play 2C.
I share your concerns though.

B. Turns into an A if he ends up signing Copp for a reasonable AAV.
