For those of you who voted B over A, what’s your reasoning? We didn’t spend all that much on these clear upgrades. I think it was a healthy balance between doing nothing and going all in.

I would say B

Only deal that’s just okay is Copp. They’re not going to re-sign him so that package is steep but whatever

Everything else was fine, if I don’t have to see Reaves, McKegg and Gauthier anymore, we’re good lol

I would say a B-/C+

I'm not really sure we should be in the rental game at this point, but he really didn't give up that much. If they make the ECF, I'm not going to be upset they gave up pick 29 at worst. With his concussion history, it was good to get injury protection as well on him needing to play 50% of playoff games in the first two rounds.

Not one top prospect was moved, and most likely he will have all his first round picks this summer to use for a potential bigger trade.
So why is that a C+ lol.

Eh, don't be so sure. Depending on Copp's contract demands, he might be resigned. Maybe as a replacement for Strome (although, I hope they look for an upgrade on 2C since Copp is the perfect 3C).

A-
Didnt go all in which at rhis point is good but bolstered the bottom 2 lines with legit nhlers. Copp was one of my targets and he landed him. Motte for a 4th is a steal. Just wish he'd found a taker for Geo.

Can't trade Geo. I wanted them to but, if something happens to Sheshterkin and Geo is gone, all the capital you just spent on Braun, Vatrano, Motte and Copp is for nothing.

He’s looking for 5 million a year at least, he turned down a slightly lesser contract from Winnipeg. They don’t have the money to be spending 5 million on a third liner, and I have no idea if Copp is good enough to play 2C

If nothing else, Drury demonstrated awareness of both roster weaknesses and stage of the build. Gotta give him at least a B+.
Agreed on this point. It's an important one to understand. He's been pretty shrewd to this point, all things considered. And I mean that as a compliment.

Another positive to mention is that Drury has kept basically all of his major bullets to potentially acquire an impact player in the offseason. Didn't move Chytil, Nils, Jones, VK, Cuylle, Othmann or Robertson. I still think Othmann should be off limits, but the rest of those guys hold major value in trades and could be used should the 2c of the future become available in the offseaon. So kudos to Drury for that.

Upgraded the roster and didn't cough up the true major assets.

We also didn't know if Strome was good enough to play 2C.

I share your concerns though.

It’s a B- for me. Rangers have all their best pieces to make deals over the summer and he certainly brought in guys to help fix a problem area. Don’t care about the condition on the 2nds but two 2nds plus Barron plus a 5th for a guy we might not be able to keep seems steep. So B- which could go higher or lower.

Drury went all in? I don't know how anyone could conclude that.

On the rental market, I would say so. He traded for 4 of them, and most times the rental market leads to very little value added to the team.

I guess it's possible they can win the division, but I think we would have been the 2 or 3 seed regardless of any trade made. I don't think this team is ready to run a gauntlet of PIT/CAR/FLA or TB/COL or CGY.

Also, a B-/C+ is a perfectly adequate grade.

B for me. Copp was a little steep, but the rest was good... A little upset we didn't use our cap space as an asset though.

Hopefully some other pieces - Geo, Gauthier, etc. can be used to recoup some picks in the summer.

He gets a B from me.

I don't think anything we did at this deadline was really going to push us over the top. He made some good depth additions while keeping the farm intact. It gives this group a better shot to make a run while keeping the pieces to make a splashy move over the summer. About as much as you could ask for

I gave him an A.

Everything made sense, we were the right mix of active and conservative, and I'm not physically sick over any trade, which is an A for this franchise. I'm excited to see the new players.

It takes years to fairly evaluate these moves but there's none that reek on day one (like the McDonagh trade). You could also argue there's no out-of-the-box "we got who???" homeruns like the Zibanejad deal, so if you bumped it to a B for that, that makes sense, but I'm in a good mood.

Suprised not more A votes. We went out and did what we need to address our holes. And I love getting Braun…truthfully Schneider might be a little over his head to jump into the playoffs this season so I love the Braun addition.

We went out and did this all without giving up a single top prospect.

If Copp plays well we re-sign him, toss Strome loose, and use all those yummy assests we still have to trade for that young center in the offseason.

Bravo Drury.
