I mean I don't disagree with you, but it is what it is with the culture now. I mean, the players can't be sure in the heat of the moment if that hit was clean or a headshot. It's going to continue this way as long as fighting and roughing is allowed in hockey. Every hit that is percieved as borderline is getting a response.

Probably a discussion for another time, but that's why they need to introduce a greater penalty for instigating after a hit. These guys can process the rest of the game at super speed but cant judge a hit?
If you aren't sure, dont drop the gloves. If it turns out it was dirty, fight later.

Kinda the reason why the instigator was brought in and it does work when the refs are calling it. They didn't do it now. When Lidngren crushed Donskoi and Kadri f***ed him up, Kadri got an instigator. Which still was probably a price they were willing to pay for that beat up.

I don't really see these fights after big hits going away unless you start banning fights, giving 5+10 for everyone. As I said, the game is so fast now that you don't know if it is clean or dirty, you just react to your teammate being down.
