I'm fine with it. Was one of the last intriguing names left in free agency at center and it's only a 1 year deal so no risk. I'd go even further and sign Grigorenko and maybe even trade for another center. Let DD, Grigorenko, the trade acquisition, and Boo all battle it out in camp for the bottom two spots. Doesn't hurt to have the competition in camp with the way the center spots are shaping up.

I don't understand why everyone assumes this?

He had issues handling Girardi and Staal. Proven guys who had good standing on the team so he probably felt loyal to them or whatever.

I just don't get how it has anything to do with how he'd handle DD.

Not surprised at all, great signing, I've proposed him a few times the last months.

Not saying that he is a piece that fits our puzzle, but I definitely thrink Desharnais can be a good 4th line C that also is capable for shorter stretches to fill in as an injury replacement higher up the lineup.

DD is actually a pretty similar to Dom Moore. He wasn't a top 6 center and hence failed since people -- and himself too probably -- thought so. But they had a lot of abilities that made sense on a 4th line. DD is good taking the puck up ice making his wingers better.

True, but just based on Gorton comments and being realistic (we aren't getting MacKinnon) it seems like Hayes will be our 2C.

Guess we'll see how it works out. I see a lot of people penciling him in as the 4C, but he'd be a really odd fit in that spot, IMO.
