Confirmed with Link: Rangers sign C Nick Bonino (1 year, $800K)

The thing I like about Bonino is that he can slot up if a center gets hurt and it isn't the end of life as we know it, as opposed to other 4C's where you're hanging on for dear life the 9 minutes they play as it is.
Bonino is coming here to take it easy

A few couple fast players added to the bottom 6 isn't going to do much for our team speed. We need to play faster. The puck moves faster than any player. Good structure will help with that. Let hope Lavi can instill some in this team.
Babcock is back so i guess nyr didn't really want him

Right. Nobody has to be in love with the signing, but he’s eons better than the alternatives we kept seeing throughout last season. Carpenter and Leshitshyn were a joke.

Anybody who believes in the narrative that this team is a club to join and go through the motions slept through the 2022 playoffs.
Well, he didn't play in the 2022 playoffs, so he probably did sleep through it

It's the same group.

Did a bunch of people change over the summer or did they just have a bad matchup and a lot less luck?
I've never in my life seen a more listless group than this one in this years playoffs. I truly believe they either gave up on GG or there was something rotten in the locker room. It was a gutless effort in round one and it was not just matchup and luck.

Did you see the Panthers in the Finals? Overmatched and overwhelmed teams look like they don't care.

All these league minimum signings are 100% due to 3 years of flat or nearly flat cap. The next work stoppage won’t be pretty.
When the owners start crying that they have to be paid back for covid, I hope the NHLPA is ready with the evidence that cap growth started caving in 2013.

They were beaten to hell and injured by the time they got to the finals.
The point is, any team that's losing and not scoring looks listless.

You're responding to a lack of offense and attributing it to a lack of caring which is ridiculous.

Making the NHL is statically, almost impossible. The work that every guy puts in is at a level normal people can't fathom.

We all know how injuries, small and large, short term or long term, can decimate a roster. We needed depth to handle these situations. These are just small moves, but necessary. Do they move the needle into making us serious Cup contenders? Of course not. Can these guys fill roles in the top 6 as needed? Of course not. But, it is hard to argue about the necessity of having adequate depth, even from guys who are 4th liners or AAAA caliber skaters.

Lmao. People here worried about the team being too old. If they suck nutz, Cuylle, Edstrom, Othmann etc will beat them out at camp NO prob. Have some faith in the players you are boning over.

Unless you just want to blame the coaching staff for being "mean to the youngins" right now and get it over with.. zzzzzzzz

Carolina showed that the Devils are easily forced into a rugby match. Hell, they weren't that fast against us either. We lost to them because our offense is completely inept.
Yes, but Devils were also first to every single puck.

Not that I disagree with your overall sentiment. Just that our lack of speed didn't do us any favors either.

With our cap position, I didn’t see us doing anything but bringing in cheap experience which is what we did. I love the Wheeler signing. I feel we need some more competition at LD and maybe RD insurance although Emberson looked good in HFD. Fs should look something like:

CK MZ KK
AL PC Wheeler
AP VT BG
Vesey and 3 of Nash, Bonino, Pitlick, Belzile, Edstrom, Cuylle, Brodz

They were completely out-matched in that series. Once their goaltender stopped standing on his head (which was unsustainable for the entire playoffs), they got caved.
They were beaten to hell, they were outmatched in arguably 3 series before that but had enough momentum and jam to make it work. They ran out of health. So much of a dif vibe than the Rangers miserable loss that I cant even believe this is a conversation.

People here really felt the same way about the panthers in the finals as they did the rangers in round one? Incomprehensible to me.

they won 3 of the 7 games pretty convincingly... and after the first 2 games you would have never expected what followed. Game 3 lost the series and it did against TB last year. Thats mental weakness, and an accumulation of the top guys and youth .just not getting it done. lack of leadership.. structure.. rangers took a step back...

D

And they've got the wrong coach if that's what they're expecting. If nothing else, Laviolette is a meritocracy coach.

Well the speed isn’t being helped but they are adding cheap decent players.

Structure helps lack of speed. One or two players not as much.
