Nash: "I have a headache. It got worse. It was a head shot. I'm concerned the way it feels."

dear lord.

I missed the LA game. I was pissed.

I missed this game. Boy, am I relieved that I did.

Why can't we draft guys like Hertl? He was a 17th overall pick so we can't use the refusal to tank excuse. Sather's failure to draft a offensive star has been his biggest failure as a GM.

We had the 28th spot. Not that it would've mattered.

I'm sure there was d man with size (cause you can't teach size) still on the board.

Seems like the third game of the year is the new measuring stick for an NHL coach. Fire AV, hire Laviolette.

Not a good sign. Let's hope it ends up being nothing. Nash played very well in LA and I wanted to see him carry it over to this game.

we can wait until tomorrow....

for now, enough of this for me. Bad game, mark it off. We're going to have alot of these with this horrific schedule we have

Don't worry guys, we have Stepan, Hagelin, Kreider, Miller, etc.

Next year they'll be Maliking their way though NHL teams on the regular.

Gutsy and sexy..

Same **** happens every year. Team comes out of the gate unfocussed.

I like AV as a coach. I think he's going to succeed here. It's been a while since the Rangers have had a dangerous offense and I think he can and will provide that for us, eventually.

But to win in NY, and NY specifically, it seems like the team and more importantly the coach, needs to have some sort of chip on their shoulder - a coach to provide the us vs the world mentality.

Phil Riley, Mike Keenan (short lived), Tom Coughlin, Jeff Van Gundy, and to a lesser extent Rex Ryan, John Tortorella, and Mike Woodson have all had reasonable success with a hard love coaching style.

D'Antoni was a West Coast wiz. Offense was 2nd to none. Didn't translate to NY. People want gritty.

Not saying Vigneault is an offensive wiz or will meet the same fate of D'Antoni, but he's more passive and his style of hockey is more open to try and induce more offense (something we needed and all wanted). But to survive and succeed in NY he's gonna need to understand he needs to grow a mean streak, whip these boys into shape, and rip heads off of people - not skate circles around them.

So...here's the thing that really burns:

I went to the Islanders game earlier tonight before getting home to watch this. The Islanders played Phoenix. We lost to Phoenix 4-1 and looked bad. Yes, it was Phoenix's opener and they were pumped but... Islanders beat Phoenix 6-1 tonight. So... I feel badly.

I'm not upset that they lost. I'm not upset that they gave up 9 goals. I'm not upset that the defense was nonexistent.

I'm upset that not ONE ****ing Ranger stood up for their teammate. Our best skater gets nailed in the head and no one does anything? They should be embarassed. That "effort", or whatever you want to call it, was the most pathetic performance I've seen from this team in a while.

Where was Callahan? What did he do? Where were any of our "leaders"? This team is full of a bunch of spineless ****ing *******. Nash must feel real great knowing not one guy has his ****ing back.

But cooler heads must prevail. It's only game 3. They'll right the ship. But God ****ing help me if they pull this **** again....

some bright notes of the night:

Tortie and his Canucks won tonight...
Devils are still winless
If the Isles make the playoffs, we can root for them to win the cup

Sure the Rangers were victims of a number of bad bounces, but that was an inexcusable effort. They were not skating. Yesterday they were skating their ***** off.

Nash injury hurts more than anything. Replay shows he got a nice knock to the head. I hope it doesn't keep him out too long.
