Every fanbase has complaints about ex-coaches. I'm sure most Blues fans were ready to move on from Berube by the time he got the ax in St. Louis, as much as they appreciated the Cup. There are a LOT of Penguin fans that don't want to see Sullivan behind the bench despite delivering 2 Cups to Pittsburgh.

Point being, you have to take what fans say about former players/coaches with a grain of salt. Another good example is Montreal fans telling us that Kovacevic sucks and will revert back to being a replacement-level defenseman any day now, despite him playing very well with the Devils this season. Players and coaches can evolve and perform better in different situations.
Agreed. I'm sure John Hynes has learned from his mistakes here and with Nashville. I'm actually happy for him for what he's doing in Minnesota.

Dolan doesn't like the status quo with his teams, always needs to shake things up and propel them "higher" if he thinks there's more to get out of his teams. His Knicks just had a great season last year, and what does he decide must be done? Massive shakeup with the Randle/Divincenzo for KAT trade.

It's what he does as owner of the NYR and NYK. He can't sit still even if the team had a great season last year and maybe is off to a slower one this year.

I don't think there's evidence that it's Dolan's making and why would you want management to be complacent? The Rangers showed they have a ceiling last year and this year's play is not some bad breaks. They're one of the worst defenses in the NHL.

Season over for NYR then. They ain't going anywhere with Trouba as captain.
I can't see them going anywhere with Zibanajed and Trochek as the 1-2 punch at centre and both with no movement clauses.

But Trouba as captain always surprised me. Who takes that salary? There's a lot of teams that need hard nosed RD so there is probably a market with some retention.

Thought of this thread as I was curious when it was relative to the struggles of the Rangers.

Did the front office know it was gonna turn bad or did these rumors help drive down team confidence?

They were already on a losing skid before he said anything. The front office knew things were bad and it got leaked that they were considering changes.

At this point the team needs a massive overhaul. The veterans are sulking and the kids keep working their asses off. They need to move out the old core and hand the reins over to the next generation.

Their play was already at a 3-8 level of bad, they were just winning games they didn't deserve to win. Objectively people saw this coming.
