After being a dumpster fire team for the last, oh, 10+ years, It's nice to see the Rangers struggling a bit. Not going to lie, I do enjoy it. They have the talent to turn it around . It's a matter of executing. They are much better than their last few games. I don't think they can, or should, blow it up. They still have a top 3 NHL goalie, really good young talent, a star in Fox, and several players underperforming.

They have to put it together again, the question is... will they?

NYR so clever pretending this is a mid-season shakeup, and not exactly what they needed to do after the Florida series. Which is to get rid of the losers on their back end too afraid or too dumb to make a pass under forecheck pressure.

I mean sure they have enough talent to turn it around and be a solid playoff team but I do not think there’s a legit Cup contender in there. Sure they’ve made multiple ECFs but now Zib, Trouba, Lindgren, Kreider are all a lot worse and even those teams only really got there off of the back of Igor. I look at other contenders and can see a clear path to how they win the Cup without needing things to go absolutely perfect for them. I look at the Rangers and think they need the stars to align to actually win a Cup.

They’re not going to “blow it up” but there should be a pretty significant retool for next season. The things they need to do aren’t really something that can be accomplished in season so I think they’re mostly stuck with this group

lol I mean they tried with Trouba and he told them no. They should’ve dumped and replaced Lindgren though.

Lindgren and Trouba were exactly who I was talking about. Trouba is tough though, the market for him has to be non-existent how he's been playing.

I mean like I said there was a team willing to take him on in the summer (Yzerplan babyyyyyyyyy) and he was already shit. Considering what he said about this being the last go for this core I assume he’s going to waive next summer and they’ll work together on finding a landing spot.

Season over for NYR then. They ain't going anywhere with Trouba as captain.

In division aside. I wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole from the Flyers.

Sanheim is a non-starter.
And I think trading our most offensive center and the only creative Center in Frost is horrible.

Torts just needs to leave Frost and MM alone.

I don’t personally want to make a move for Kreider at this stage of where the Flyers are. Trouba only as a dump / with pieces attached as a sweetener. Flyers should not be making win now moves.

I was going to say, as one of the less biased Rangers fans when it comes to dealing with division rivals and hating rival players, I would take that and run from our POV. Sanheim would be our #2 next to Fox. Tippett is a young inconsistent Kreider-lite (who was inconsistent, fast and physically gifted early on as well). Frost is a kid with upside at a position we’re thin at. I see zero downside for NY.

When has the rangers GM shown that he is willing to trade except for deadline deals?

Deals that happen in season typically are not big returns to the “gotta make changes” team unless they are futures or prospects

Yeah. Honestly if the flyers were in a different spot. I think Kreider would be an interesting piece. But the Flyers should not consider this move at all.

Frost should be stapled to MM and given reign to play, he’s the only one who can stay with him creativity wise from the Center position.

I would love for Tippett to be dealt if that’s someone the rangers would be interested in.

Well then plan on trading for a similar struggling player on a similar team that is underperforming. Ottawa? Detroit? Maybe Kreider for Kane?

A rebuilding team won’t want an older player and anyteam that fancies itself as a playoff team is looking to unload prospects or picks.
kreider for kane LOL

One big issue is the coaching staff sucks , they are unable to get the team to buy in and on whatever he hell they are trying to do, but it was already known before they were hired that Gallant and co was the last coaching staff this core gets to fire.

So as much as I’d rather see a coaching change it looks like the players are gonna be fired first.

They have played some bad games recently but it's not like they are at the bottom of the standings. A 2 or 3 game winning streak could likely quiet the trade talk fast, unless they just feel they do not want to move forward with this core because they don't think it is capable of competing for the Cup and want to make some solid changes.

His possession numbers have tanked. 49.9 xGF% last year to 43.2 this year. And the most concerning part of it is that the rest of the team's hasn't. The team is doing fine when he's off the ice, and getting caved in when he's on it.

Not at all what you want to see from a 31 year old signed until 2030 making 8.5.

NYR was kind to the Oilers by giving them one of the best coaches in the League for free in Knoblauch.

I will return the favor.

Trouba @ 50% + 2 1sts for future considerations. We could use a 3rd pair defenceman that every now and then will take a Flames head off.
