Who says no? What needs to be added. What do you think of this as the basis for a deal?

To NYR: Thomas Chabot and Drake Batherson

To OTT: Alexis Lafreniere and Braden Schneider

In theory, I'm personally okay with trading Chabot for a fair price. In reality it would probably be quite demoralizing to the Sens core if Staois traded him after the season he and the team just had.

In terms of value, I think it's in the Rangers favor, but it's not off to a point where it's unworkable or anything like that.

Batherson and Chabot are both the better players right now, but also both are a number of years older with less control.

Feels a bit counter to what both teams would be looking to do to be honest.

Ottawa wants to ride momentum and build on a solid season with loftier playoff goals, not reset the clock and develop guys further.

Rangers need to retool and are looking to shed some of their older players. All rumors regarding exploring any of their younger guys have been squarely around other young players coming in.

I just don't think either team approaches the other looking to make this kind of trade, without getting into value in a vacuum.

Switch Schneider with K'Andre and Ottawa might just bite.
As a sens fan id rather have Schneider. RHD are harder to come by and I really dont think there is a big difference to what these players will be when they peak. The idea behind it is it opens up enough cap space to address another weakness and there is more cost certainty. Also those players line up with Ottawa's core for when they are really going to be a contender. I honestly thought that there should be an add from the Rangers but didnt want to sound like a homer. The sens definitely get worse right now but if they can add a piece with the extra cap space like say Orlov overall I dont think they regress that much. They need to address the RD position and the market is scarce.

NYR have Fox and Borgen so their RD is a position of strength.

What would the add be? is Perrault too much? What other prospects do the rangers have that they would be willing to add. I think a late first would work but we dont really know where the rangers are heading. Puck pedia has the rangers with no 1st this year but then I see they pick 12th can someone explain that? If they added a 2nd this year I would do this deal as a sens fan.

I think losing Chabot would create some issues for Ottawa's ability to break out they would have to go after a puck moving LD in free agency.

Ultimately I see Kleven eventually moving into a top 4 spot so this kind of gets ahead of that for Ottawa's long term projection.

I think Chabot would hold more value to a team that would most likely give him #1 powerplay and try to get the most out of his offense.

Batherson and Chabot are 2 of our top 3 offensive drivers. Don't think we can trade them both for downgrades.

I would do Chabot OR Batherson + our 1st + or maybe + Yakemchuk for Schneider & Lafreniere, but not both.

Chabot is honestly probably best-suited to PP2. He is pretty good on the PP but not amazing. Probably not a top 20 PPD.

Easily one of the best players in the league at transitioning the puck to offense and maintaining offensive possession at ES, but those skills are less vital/impactful on the PP. Chabot's real offensive ability has always shone at ES rather than the PP.

So while he might hold more value to a team that needs him to play 30 mins, I think there are probably 20 teams who would kill to have him as their 22-24 min "#2".

Ok so who else would you be willing to involve in the deal. Othmann? Also whats going on with the Rangers first rounder is puck pedia making a mistake?
Either this years or next years 1. rounder goes to PIT (from the JT. Miller trade via Canucks). Othman should be availble as a sweetener in a deal for NYR.

I get what you’re doing, but it’s not good for Ottawa IMO.
The downgrade from Chabot to Schneider is just too massive & Batherson is better than Lafreniere and on a sweet contract for 2 more years.

We would need a really good prospect for sure to do something like this….

OP kudos on a good effort but imo this is not the deal
Do not want Chabot and Bath is not a good target for NY given what Sens would ask

As to LaF, he is available, but would prefer to gamble on Habs Reinbacher as core piece coming back maybe small MON add since Rein is a risk on both knees

Schneider is not being moved unless it is a core piece to super RD thin Kings [expecting Doughty to hard fall soon] getting Byfield

Rs should sell high on Fox and Shesty for quality youth return
Sens would covet Fox as pair to Sanderson
Shesty locked up long term also w/appeal
They are not being offered as a pair [unless Sanderson ++ is coming back]

A deal for either is the get here w/OTT pieces Pinto + Kleven + draft picks as starters for a deal
To repeat I said STARTERS

It's balanced, good job for that. Beyond that I don't think either team wants to do this. The Rangers want to bet on younger players and the Sens don't.

That's funny. A couple of years ago you were infatuated with Chabot. Now it's Kleven. I guess Chabot is too old for your pipe dreams now.
As is usually the case more often than not,
your sorry ass is wrong
esp when it relates to anything re me/what I've said

the one I had been pushing for from Sens was Sanderson
who is now unattainable

Not gonna speak for ottawa fans, but the rangers wouldn’t even bother with a response if this was proposed. When you look at the types of players who tend to bring more in playoff hockey, they look a lot more like laf and schneider than chabot and batherson.

Nothing against chabot/batherson, it’s not like i wouldn’t gladly add them to any roster…batherson at least, but laf and schneider are bigger bodies and bring a more physical element that defines playoff winners. Say whatever negative words you want about laf to date, if he’s proven one thing, it’s that he’s an absolute dog in the playoffs. Schneider has everything you want in a defensive dman skillset for todays game and he’s still quite young/improving.

I’m not gonna argue if any ott fans feel very differently on the trade value, i got no issue with having a different opinion. I’m purely speaking from a rangers perspective.
