Good post.

We lost 2 fiery players in the offseason in Dubinsky/Prust. We replaced them with Pyatt and Halpern/Powe. There seem to be a lot of quiet, 'keep to themselves" type players on this team.

Yup, Slats did a lousy job in replacing those two. Dubi and Prust are both overpaid and I understand why they had to go. But once those guys were no longer with the team, they absolutely needed to be replaced with players who have similar personalities, work ethic, etc., and it didn't happen.
