Great question. Based on my short tenure it seems like you stay on the color originally assigned. I’d ask my rep i guess if I thought it would change the situation, but they seem to be churned out every two years.

(Hope that didn’t come across as a complaint lol.)
Yeah I guess I’ll wait until the 2023-24 schedule comes out before asking, so I have a while.

I agree with many people above. The days of making money on games is pretty much over. Although if you've been tenured for a while and in the right location it's way easier to move tickets and not lose money.
Since I seemed to whack on a hornets nest here, I want to be clear that my original post was referencing the regular season - I.e., which 2 or 3 games look like money makers (“kings ransom” in jest).

My experience so far says it’s only the Isles and Bruins, and/or Sat night matches. The target during regular season is TOURIST or opposing team fan. The target in playoffs is a LOCAL. And that’s why the recent playoffs ticket postings seemed like trying to buy (sell) a plane ticket to Fort Lauderdale during spring break.

A tourist or opposing fan doesn’t know or care about the market price. That’s why Isles or Bean fans or tourists pay up.

A local (playoff) buyer is running a 24/7 simulator against what their next rent payment is, divided by the square root of the probability the Rangers might win. The second that graph starts running downward is when you’ve lost any chance at selling for a profit.

Very simple explanation. Hockey tickets are not an investment. They are a sunk entertainment cost. If you're buying them to make money, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. You are going to take a loss on many regular season games, but you will save money on the playoffs if you want to attend and likely make money if you're smart.

tldr; you can manage your costs rather well (and we should feel lucky, because for many teams it's much harder to move hockey tickets), but you should always expect to "lose" money. With that said, to me it's the same concept as going on vacation. I don't consider the money i spend on season tickets to be lost, it's an experience cost.

I was sick of being a ticket broker, so we downgraded to a 1/4 package last year. Had full seasons since 1998. Worked out great for us. Almost dropped them all together and just went aftermarket, but glad we didn't with the playoff run last year. We got half the games which was plenty.

These days I have two kids playing travel hockey, even 11 games is tough for me to make. I know we'll have to sell a few games, but not really concerned if I lose a few bucks. Just can't be bothered anymore. Gone for me are the days of keeping spreadsheets tracking games and prices and such, and I don't miss them one bit.

We just moved down to 102 from 217 today on our plan, for only like $400 more per ticket. Pretty happy about that...

I used to have a pair in 217, and as much as I enjoyed watching games from there, they were not an easy ticket to sell.

Hey all. First time posting. I was a half season membership subscriber for about 5 years and ended in 223 row 5. This year was going to pay around $3400/seat. Was able to upgrade to full season in 224 row 10 for only about $5500/seat. Seemed like a no brainer. Question: where is the price point breaks in those sections? Rows? Sections?? Were my old seats and new ones same price points? Seemed like a big discount to go full season thanks!

Yes, your old and new seats are the same price point. 223, 224, 225 (and on the other side, 210, 211, 212) are center (though center for gallery seats- the first two rows of the upper bowl- extends by one section in each direction). Rows 3-14 are lower, 15+ are upper.

Don't know if everyone's aware but it looks like Ticketmaster is back to paying out after you make a sale and not after the event occurs. I just got paid for a sale for one of my games.
I switched to TM from Stubhub this year and have found the experience a lot better. Definitely with the payouts changing now, it's a complete game changer for me since I don't have to keep track for months to ensure I get paid.

I do wish they'd better integrate the systems, since you basically have to toggle between various logins, but I can live with that. The tickets also seem to go a lot quicker on TM.

TM is a bit of a PITA to track your payments. When we get the 1099-Ks I think TM will be a mess to reconcile. I started doing that now and I have to deal with my Yankee season tickets.

Haven't seen anyone post the pricing tiers yet for this season. Thought it was very interesting how they set the prices for individual games this season. 4 Pricing tiers with a majority of seats listed in the 3rd and 4th highest tiers. Maybe hinting at re-sellers to not drop the price as low for certain games...

Our seats in the lower half of the corner 200s:

TierRelative price # of Games
165%4 (three preseason games + Ducks lol)
277%10
3104%20
4129%10

Relative price is the price of the tickets compared to the average price of tickets (including the 3 preseason games)

Is 3 and 4 correct ?

I thought my breakdown was this in the 200’s
It’s just off by 1 but curious if we’re different. Wouldn’t think we would be.

You might want to double check your tiers. I'd think the tiers would be the same for everyone. I'm in the upper 200s center and I have the same breakdown as the other person.

Mmm. I’m in 225 so should be the same. I’ll have to go through my games. Thanks.

Ok this is a dumb question that I can’t figure out and my rep hasn’t been helpful.

Can I just buy single game tickets that have delta club access? Via Ticketmaster?

Yes. Just checked though, and it looks like they may be holding them back? Have only found Delta resale.

Hey…I’m sec 224 row 12. When we’re you able to upgrade to row 10? This is interesting because I’ve been a full season ticket holder since 2001 and there were nothing lower in 224 when I had my upgrade

I noticed the same thing.

It was also noted in a Season Ticket Member email yesterday.

Resale Payout Schedule Change:
Ticketmaster will be changing payout timing for resale listings sold from "pay after event happens” to "pay after ticket sells.”

I sold a preseason Knicks game on tm and was already paid.

Last year fanxchange was paying after the ticket sells last year but they only pay out once a month.

Yeah the rep told me they’ve largely been sold as season memberships so reps don’t have them to sell (or at least this particular one doesn’t).

If a ticket is coded as club level seating does it get access?

No. It has to say Delta (or J.P. Morgan, which has Delta access as well).

Wouldn't count on that applying to play-off games when the time comes. They are not going to want to deal with charging sellers in order to refund buyers when a series ends early.
