GDT: Rangers Roundtable Q & A with Rangers management on Oct 2

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
I live in Nashville so I can’t make it. Who will represent us there? I would like to start by nominating RangerBoy and Edge. Others?

Surely GoAwayStaal/Fluffer will use this opportunity to enlighten them about a certain LD? :)

Someone get bernmeister in there. Boo will be the 1C by the end of the meeting.

I will accept if an invite is arranged!*
I thank you CSTK and just to be consistent, what I have always said was Nieves should be attached to Kreider's hip.
When CK was 1LW, that meant Nieves by extension was top line pivot.
Since KK is our projected 1LW [breadman playing 1RW for faceoffs, etc], that means w/CK on 2nd line Boo = 2C

* my understanding is this will be Manhattan location.
Would need details if in person invite is extended.

It doesn't look like MSG will be televising this like they did with the Town Hall last year. Nor does it appear that they will have a Training Camp Live show like they did prior to the Town Hall. Sad.

Great that they're doing it but I doubt we'll know anything more after it than we do right now. But it's a nice little bone to throw I suppose to create a little buzz before the season starts.

Tragically, last min unable to attend.
If someone wishes, pls feel free to say as follows:

1. recognize the roster is still in state of flux and HC and GM cannot be too specific, b'c discussion of other teams players likely viewed as tampering.

2. Once roster space is recovered Kravtsov and others return.

3. Krav should be played at 1C betw. Kakko LW + Panarin RW [note: this is for def purposes only, faceoffs etc., so not going to off hand; play all offense as chemistry and system/designed plays suggest].

4. This means we get to now use Kreider at 2LW with Zib, a pairing known to be effective. Who should be other linemate their is open question.

5. We would be served best by putting Chytil, Buch and others down in the lineup, making talent deeper in bottom six.

6. I propose using a guy who is otherwise unqualified for the position, but arguably an exception to the rule applies, Boo Nieves, due to the specifics of chemistry and the player matches involved.

7. Boo [horrible last preseason game aside] is known to be def. responsible, better skater than others, size, reach, etc., smooth enough passer. Would create SYNERGY with Kreider [should be at his hip] and correct RW, which righty shot Zib can more than handle. His def. skills would encourage Zib and Kreider to be reasonably aggressive, knowing def solid linemate has their back. Nieves is not a good shooter, but neither is most of the rest of the Fs.

8. On paper this works. A possession driver (Kreider) has a complementary facilitator type (Nieves) who are joined by a finisher with enough scoring touch (Zib). Should have already been tried but mins to others due to roster logjam has denied fair consideration.

9. Last 2 preseason games, Nieves got adequate mins but again was, as always, not matched with correct complements to my above equation. And while McLeod [his W most of last year] offers something to his teams, he was a black hole on offense for Nieves.

10. Thank you in advance for your consideration to this idea. Just give the trio adequate practice and ice time and I am confident you will see worthwhile results.

I am available by appt should you wish amplified discussion of this topic.

With appreciation,
bernmeister

Someone is going to read this at the roundtable, right?

YouTube stream sucks. Whoever is mixing the audio for the feed needs to be fired. Are these guys broadcasting out of Traverse City? I don't think the Hulu Theatre is an NHL-broadcast capable theatre.

Was at the event and found myself back stage for a meet and greet and met the brain trust. I am so glad JD is back. Best part was their take on Lemieux.
