Kreider at least showed flashes last season and in the previous playoffs. I honestly have not seen a lot from Miller. I don't see the upside. I'm not saying it's not there, I just haven't seen flashes of what he could be or what the team envisions hims being.

Pathetic? Miller shouldn't be in the NHL. He is not ready. He played bad last night. He makes too many stupid plays during the course of an NHL game. First goal last night started from his turnover in the offensive zone. He has not played well. Tortorella gave him an extended leash last year. I'd rather have Asham up and look to Lindberg in the coming weeks. Miller needs more time in the A.

Miller is a much better player than Lindberg right now.

Did you watch the Devils game the other night? He was one of the best players on the ice. I suggest watching closer to see the upside.

Watch Miller play for the pack. He looks completely different. Though playing at center could be part of it

Miller was playing top 9 and Asham is only a bottom 3 player. Which scrub gets bumped up a line?

This should certainly help with our scoring woes...

My words aren't being construed correctly. I know there's upside. I just can't get a good idea of what his ceiling is. What kind of player is he ultimately going to be? How is going to add the most value to a team? I see him play and I have trouble projecting him out or comparing his game and skill to other NHL players.

This is not meant to be a knock on Miller.

There goes my theory that the F.O had learned from their yo-yoing mistakes from last year.

Miller actually looked dominant in his 2 game stint here. What a shame.

Also, this probably means Dorsett is farther away than we think he is.

Different from what?

Everything about his game. His confidence. His play making. It all stands out on the pack. Then he goes up to the nhl and he looks tentative.

I still much prefer him at center. Dunno why they don't give him a shot there with brassard and Moore struggling

I actually agree with this.

I really don't know what he's going to turn out to be. He's got plenty of raw talent and physicality, reminds me a lot of David Backes. But that's really aiming high.

But I don't see him cracking 50 points at the NHL level. I don't know what it is. I remember he was compared to Mason Raymond at the draft.

I understand calling Asham up to sit Pyatt or Pouliot. What I don't get is shuttling Miller back and forth. Miller should stay down there and work on his game instead of going back and forth. I'd call up Powe and Yogan (if healthy), before I call Miller up again to play 4th line minutes.

You shouldn't have to watch that closely if a player has clear upside. He plays hard. He shows signs of possibly being a Dubinsky-like player. But he makes too many mistakes for the NHL level right now. He produces a decent game against the devils, but will then disappear and make boneheaded plays in the next 3 games. It can't be that way at the NHL level.

Different from what?
That's what I would like to know.

Dominant? Please. He looked decent in the devils game and then bad last night. Dominant in turning the puck over in the offensive zone? Yes, I've seen that a lot this year and last when Torts refused to send him down but was not hesitant to send kreider down.

Asham can actually chip in more points than pyatt and pouliot in my opinion and he's tough. Last night lundqvist kept getting bumped and ran into and no one did anything, asham belongs on the 4th line I like it

With the way he played, Miller looks to be a grinder. I'd love to say he'd be a top player, but I think he'll ultimately slot in as a 3C with a defensive game and chipping in here and there. I definitely hope he improves and could be in the top 6, but that's how I see his potential currently.

I liked Torrey Mitchell in San Jose. I haven't seen him play with Minnesota. He usually played as a 3C, and he occasionally wowed with a really nice goal here and there. I think I see Miller playing that kind of game, but with more hitting than Mitchell has displayed.

Maybe the yoyoing of players is good for them. Look at Kreider. Worked out for him. You can assess them at the NHL level and have them work on things in the AHL. These stints could be a test for them. Allows them to find areas of weakness and what to work on also to see if progression is made. Not like he did not play enough this weekend.

Not sure about Asham. He serves little purpose on the ice, but I agree never should have been sent down. I'd rather see Darrel Powe over Pyatt at this point.

Because Asham is a clearly superior player in every aspect?

Superior fighter and hitter? No.

Superior skater? No.

Superior shot? Yes.

Veteran leadership? Yes.

Superior heart? No. Haley is similar to Dorsett. Asham is a mercenary. He has no connection to any of these players. He was on the team last year, didn't stop anyone from taking runs at any of our players did he?
