Glad he's back. Helped Hartford quite a bit and relieved some of the pressure on McIlrath to bear the brunt of the fighting role.

Still don't see much of an NHL future unless he can really up his skating, and at nearly 25 this could be a really important season for him.

I imagine the addition Sam Noreau will add quite a bit relief in the fighting/enforcing department for the Hartford/CT roster.

I doubt Sammy starts in Hartford. Maybe one more season of Juniors.

The Hartford team should be real fun to watch.

I know there are a lot of older goons in the AHL but that team will run from no one. Should be entertaining for Pack fans.

why does it seem that the Wolfpack always seem to have more grittier players than the Rangers??? any chance a surprise like Yogan, Kantor, Mashinter or Haley starts the year with Rangers?

I think he can play AHL hockey right now.

wasn't a knock on his ability I just didn't think he'd make the AHL squad. ECHL seems more likely.

Haley or Mashinter have a chance. I don't see Yogan making it. Kantor might not even start in the AHL.

You laugh but as I stated after the draft the rangers are high on him. He is a good sized big man Who. Is tough ..

Yeah, there is a fine line between a player like Mashinter on one side and the similar guys in LA everyone loves or even say Bickell in Chicago. None of these guys can do anything by themselves in the NHL. If you see Mashinter on the ice in a role where he doesn't get involved at all, you can bank on that neither would a Nolan or Bickell or Cliford. They need to be put in an environment that enables them to get involved.

Mashinter still got some ways to go. Many complain on us not getting a PF. But this is the problem with a PF, Mashinter is more or less the "second best" PF. Besides the established PFs, you get a Mashinter. He is good at what he does. Can you use it? That is the big question.

Pretty simple. Because, more often that not, those grittier players are not NHL caliber.

Yea, unfortunately for Mashinter, Prust and Dorsett can actually skate.

Exactly. Like I mentioned earlier, the team might be high on him but as of now he's just not a good enough skater to be a regular NHL player. He's too slow to get in on the forecheck, and lacks the agility to line up hits on the quicker NHL players. A one year deal simply means they're looking for a major improvement this year or they're likely to cut him loose.

I'd like to see the kid succeed. We could use a guy like him in the lineup on a regular basis. However, he really needs to take his skating to another level to hope to make it as a NHL regular.

Wasn't thrilled with Mashinter's play when he came up but looking forward to seeing him in some more games to get a better look.

Good re-sign as he may find his way onto this squad sooner or later as depth.
