Confirmed with Link: Rangers Re-Sign Justin Falk (1 year, $975K)

Bit more than his QO. More than I expected, to be honest. Hopefully he can continue to progress and solidify himself as a bottom pairing guy.

Only $75k more than I was expecting, but we don't know one-way or two-way, though I'd be surprised if it was 2. His last deal wasn't.

sather and Gorton just knocking **** out today haha

a little more than expected but I are no issues signing step and zucc, especially since they will be cheap bridge contracts.

I have to say, we have completed as a team some of the most level headed signings this offseason... we have a very qualified roster at this point.

speaking of which, the wolf pack is looking solid as well.

The team was handcuffed due to the Richards debable. They went bargain bin shopping (like the Pouliot signing, was a bit confused with Moore), and have signed some of their RFA. Thats just doing business - not anything I'd particularly commend.

Because of McDs amazing cap hit, it allowed us to sign Hagelin and Falk for a little bit more while still allowing us to sign Zuccarello and Stepan to reasonable contracts. Based on my calculations we will have about 300,000 in cap room when both Hagelin and Callahan both come back.

I understand that. but these bargain bin signings are very underrated. that's my thought.

Maybe it'll be worth giving Falk a little bit extra, considering hes paid his dues in the league, can log some minutes if need be.... Make him feel good about himself.

Plus he'll need a few extra bucks in the big city. :sarcasm:

I like the depth he provides.

* - includes bonus money in contract
ELC - denotes player on Entry Level Contract
NTC - denotes No Trade Clause in Contract
NMC - denotes No Movement Clause in Contract

2014 Draft picks
  • 1st round NYR
  • 2nd round NYR
  • 3rd round NYR
  • 4th round NYR
  • 5th round Florida (for Casey Wellman)
  • 6th round NYR
  • 7th round NYR*

  • NO 5th rounder NYR traded to San Jose for Ryan Clowe in 2013 - conditions being if he does not resign with NYR - then San Jose gets the 5th pick.
  • Eventually NO 7th rounder (conditionally traded to San Jose along with Tommy "horror-movie" Grant for Brandon Mashinter 2013 - condition being if he resigns with NYR then San Jose gets the pick). B. Mashinter has now been qualified - likely meaning this pick is going to San José

Just out of curiosity, do you have a spreadsheet or something you could send me so I can see where I screwed up?

I screwed up the math at first here too, but I've corrected it. The available space we actually have is closer to $7.8m. Look at the chart in this post and add the amounts for the three qualifying offers (Step, Zucc, Mash) back in on top of the existing cap space ($6,675,399), since the QO hits go away when a contract is signed.

Well, you always mention how roster turnover has been an issue. There was no turnover this summer.

Richards should have been bought out, but other than that, there isn't much to complain about as far as moves they made.

Cheep, low-risk signings to add depth. Moore will be taking a lot of defensive zone faceoffs. The possibility to move Boyle still exists. Pouliot has some skill and speed. They subtracted Powe, Asham, and Clowe. Addition by subtraction.

The only downside here is that Zuccarello might be lost, depending on what Stepan's terms are.

Falk has more upside than Eminger and Gilroy.

There will be opportunities for Kristo, Fast, Lindberg, Miller, Hrivik, and McIlrath at points in the season.

Let's see what Vigneault and his staff do.
