Confirmed with Link: Rangers re-sign Jonathan Quick (1 year, $1.55M AAV)

Remember when he had Lundquist, Georgiev AND Shesty all in the same season and thought we were “set” in net for a generation….?

Still have this guy

The only thing to worry about with respect to Garand is whether they force him to split starts with some slug like Domingue. Garand should be given a healthy majority of starts.

And don't tell me that's not practical in the AHL because a) sure it is and b) I've given examples before.

being a professional athlete must be great if you can get 12 hours a night damn

f*** the money at that point i’d do it for the sleep
I found some of the receipts lol. I remembered because I found it so relatable.

"He's a very heavy sleeper, a very heavy sleeper," Kings goaltending coach Bill Ranford said. "They'd get in from a road trip at four o'clock in the morning and have the bus unpacked, but no Quickie. He'd be asleep underneath the seats - wouldn't have even heard the guys unloading the bus."

Quick, meanwhile, has worked hard to make his mornings less interesting. After sleeping through a scheduled breakfast meeting with an assistant coach a few seasons ago - which led to a brief demotion - he has taken to using more than one alarm clock at home and on the road.

Garand should request a trade. Keep blocking young players.
Garand is only 22. Most goalies aren't regular NHL players at that age.

This is the first year he has put up decent numbers outside of the playoffs. He can spend another year in the AHL and then be the backup.

Hartford has 14 games left. Garand played on Sunday, so it will most likely be Domingue tonight. Hartford won't make the playoffs, so Garand probably has 7 starts left.

Next year, he needs a bigger workload. He needs to play at least 40 out of 72 games. Every time there are 3 games in a week, he needs to play 2 of them.

Moves are coming. 1.5 for Quick tells me cap will be made elsewhere. Kreider and Panarin are my guess. Shock move of Igor? Quick to "start" with Garand backing up? At this point with the team I'm not sold anyone will be here next year for sure.

$1.55m for backup goalie roulette seems fine.
In an ideal world I guess he starts 15-20 games before the TDL, and gets moved for a 3rd, letting Garand finish the season with the big club

I totally know what you're saying here but in an ideal world the Rangers are a good team in contention and they need Quick. But yeah if we're mediocre or suck he's flippable.

Would be kind of funny if mediocre is good enough again next season to catch a wild card in the Metro. Right now you have two teams basically backing in, and the five other contenders (including NYR) are shitting in their own helmets.

Gotta love a guy that's just as much of a Rangers fan as most of us. Quickie would probably sell his soul and that Vegas ring to see this franchise get one. He's a player that is truly passionate about this team and we shouldn't take it for granted.

I had a feeling after this season from hell he'd want to stay for one more shot at it. I expect Drury to go all-in for the 25-26 season.

I hope Garand can step up and force his way into the backup slot at some point next season.
The typical Rongo thing will be he doesn't get a chance and leaves for somewhere else. If that happens, I'd like us get some assets for it like with Cam Talbot or Chad Johnson.

May be splitting hairs but the AAV actually seems a little high. Surprised it wasn’t something like veterans minimum with another 500K-1M in relatively easy to reach incentives so that the cap hit can carry over to the following year. Not a huge deal but considering they’re likely to spend to the cap this summer, the extra bit helps.
