Confirmed with Link: Rangers re-sign Jonathan Quick (1 year, $1.55M AAV)

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
On its own I'm happy that Quick got another year here backing up Shesterkin. However what are the implications for Garand? I'm pretty sure he's waiver eligible starting next season and it will be a big risk that he's picked up. I'd guess he's moved in the offseason, unfortunately and unlike Talbot (who also developed through Hartford) situation - because he didn't establish himself in the NHL - the return could be minimal.

being a professional athlete must be great if you can get 12 hours a night damn

f*** the money at that point i’d do it for the sleep
I explain to people all the time that professional athletes are biological miracles (mostly men in their mid-30's on Facebook who think they could 1v1 WNBA players).

It even comes down to things like the ability to sleep. I got six hours in me, tops, before I wake up for no reason.

Im surprised he still wants to play AS A RANGER
Would seem Quick would want at least an inkling of assurance from someone in NYR mgt that better days are on the way for 2025-2026…otherwise, it’s hard to believe he would knowingly return to what right now is a dumpster fire inside the Titanic inside the Hindenburg…

I think he'll still get a look. He's only 22 and Quick is going on 40.

Goalies are a breath away from their game going to Pluto.

Trazodone 50mg. I was never a great sleeper to begin with and then got laid off and my anxiety went through the roof. This stuff has been a godsend. Full 8 hours, no side effects, non-addictive and no grogginess then next day.

Either the following year or next year if Quick starts to go moldy.
My point was that he might not pass through waivers at the start of 2025-2026 season.

Edit: I stand corrected. @Harbour Dog says he wouldn't be waiver eligible for next season and I think he's correct. Dylan needs to accrue 4 professional seasons first and his first with Hartford was at the start of 22-23 season.

Don't lie you wake in a cold sweat thinking about how bad the Rangers' analytics are.

Goalies really don't get claimed on waivers. Teams generally like a veteran back-up anyways and by the time someone like Garand is sent down, teams will be set in goal. It also means that a team will likely be okay playing him what, 20 games next year? That's going to stunt his development even if that other team is crazy high on him. And if they were to try to send him down later in the year to get some games the Rangers just scoop him back up.

Dylan has been good this year in the AHL on a mediocre team but he is likely to finish the season with ~40 games played. It would be fantastic to see him come to camp next year and really be that #1 AHL starter who can play 50 games.

Thought someone dug up an old thread when he was extended last time.

Didnt expect this honestly, but I'm happy with it.

Good on him for wanting to continue his career. Guy is a gamer

For everyone wondering, Garand has two more years of exemption from waivers. As a goalie who signed at age 19, he would need to have 5 professional seasons or more than 80 NHL games played in order to require waivers. He currently has 3 professional seasons (including the current season) and 0 NHL games.
